Half(ish) way done with Katherine!

I know I have been a bit quite this week. It has been quite busy about here. On Wednesday and Thursday I worked at the school book fair, and on Wednesday evening Doug and I went to Back to School Night at the girls’ school. I was able to get a little bit of crochet done at the book fair; mostly during the lunch period. I have been spending the vast majority of my time getting ready for the knit … Read more

Stand back…

My head is going to explode, you may want to take a step back…

I have so much going on right now I can’t seem to keep it all straight, and I feel like my head may go kaplooy at any moment. Kaplooy? How do you spell ka-ploo-ie?

I have the top of the Katherine coat done, and am about 1/4 of the way done with the top part of the skirt. So I still need to do the rest of the top part of the skirt, the bottom of the skirt, the hood, the pockets, and the belt. I leave for the knit and crochet show two weeks from today. Oh dear.

Let’s not even get into the rest of the things I need to do before then.

Daisy chaos and camera news

Last night was our first Daisy meeting of the year. Upon turning in our room request schedule for the meetings at the school, we discovered that the policies had changed and we needed 40 days notice to request a room. Oops, we were a little late for the first meeting. We managed to get the cafeteria for all our other meetings, but we could not use the school at all for the first. So, I volunteered my house; after all, … Read more

On my needles, on my hook, and on my mind…

I know, I need to finish the Katherine coat for the Knit and Crochet show. I just can’t work on only one thing. Plus, then there would be no free patterns here until mid to late October. Not to mention, sometimes I just need to step away from Katherine for a while. We have a very complex relationship, that coat and I. It seems there was something in the air this spring, I have quite a few pregnant friends. They … Read more

Circle to Triangle Bunting ~ Free Crochet Pattern

This granny inspired creation starts out with a circle, then transitions into a triangle. Make it all one color, or up to 6 different colors. Change up the colors for different seasons. You can use the triangles just as is for various uses, or string them together to make bunting. In honor of Crochetville’s slip stitch event ~ Summer is Slipping Away, I have included instructions on how to make the bunting with a wider ribbon~like string, which is made using slip stitch crochet. Enjoy!

Monkey-Convention

Monkey Convention

I have just a short post for you this evening. I am having issues adjusting to the school schedule. Getting up in time to be showered and caffeinated before the girls need to get up is proving a bit more difficult then I remember. Oh well, I will get back into the grove in time. The other day there appeared to be a monkey convention in the living room. It was a secret convention. The girls aren’t talking. The monkeys … Read more

First Day, First Grade

Here we are, the first day of first grade. I feel like we just left school, and now we are back again. I got a few snaps in, but not many. I am going to share them here along with a selection of my Facebook status updates about the girls from the past few years. They start with the most recent and go down, I have labeled each age change. 6 years old: 9/3/13 Kyla ~ “Sometimes I make a … Read more
