Unicorn Tales – a magical guided journal review
My unicorn loving daughter gave the Unicorn Tales guided journal a go and has really been enjoying it. I love the way it’s set up, the positive themes that carry into daily life, and the magic. We also have a giveaway for the journal at the end of this post!
Selfie Sunday – The end of cabin fever!
Happy Sunday! It seems like a good day to catch you up on the various goings-on here At Home lately. I doubt I’ll do this every Sunday, but I’ll try to do it once or twice a month. Yesterday was the girls’ first day of Spring Break and this morning we opened windows. Cabin fever is finally ending!
Happy Abstracts – so much fun for both kids and adults
Over the girls’ February break we took a look at Happy Abstracts by EttaVee (Jessi Raulet). We were inspired to have a girls day painting party and ended up with some really wonderful creations!
Fondant 101 for Anyone -or- Our Fun Girls Day!
The girls, a friend, and I decorated a cake with some Satin Ice fondant this weekend. We had so much fun and have some basic fondant tips to share with you.
Skittles Paintings with Kyla and Vada – Fun craft for the days off school!
After seeing some Skittles paintings on the internet, Vada wanted to give it a go in a more creative way then just painting with the Skittles colored water. All the tutorials we found had the Skittles in a bowl of water, and then you used the colored water as paint, but we wanted to try actually using the Skittles on the paper.
Cyber Monday Hand Crafted Holidays ideas – handmade gifts you can buy!
Handmade gifts are so wonderful, I just love giving them. However, we don’t always have the skills or the time to make all the gifts we would like. Etsy to the rescue! You can get some beautiful hand crafted creations quickly and easily from the comfort of your couch. Celebrate this Cyber Monday and support small and home businesses by filling your gift list with some of these lovely pieces of art.
Here are the names and links to each of these fun gifts, along with a bit about the shops they are from. If the item listed is sold out, go to the shop and see what other similar items the artist has for you to gift.
Some years are harder
I was going to put up a crafty post today, but I couldn’t. I’ll post it tomorrow. Today I’m really feeling the memory of 17 years ago. Some years I can get through this day pretty much OK, other years I feel it for weeks before and after. This is one of the harder years. I can’t bring myself to post about crafts as if it is just another day. I find myself at a loss for words today. So … Read more
Magnetic Mini Tile Art – great for Christmas gifts!
I bought this Magnetic Mini Tile Art kit for the girls. They each made 5 tiles for Christmas presents. I found the kit for about $11 on Amazon, so it was really a great deal! We really liked that the girls could design their own tiles to make them personalized.
The kit comes with 10 tiles, a magnet sheet with 10 pre-cut sticky-back squares to go on the back of the magnets, 6 colors of paint, and a paint brush. All you need to provide yourself is a pencil.
Diamond Dotz are fun for kids, too!
I had so much fun making my Diamond Dotz canvas that I was sure these would be craft kits kids would like too. Turns out I was right, Diamond Dotz are a big hit with the girls. I wasn’t sure if their attention span would last, but Kyla and Vada found it so fun that they finished them in a couple of days. There are also some smaller kits that can be done in one sitting if you don’t have the time or the space for a larger/longer project. So if you are looking for craft kits kids would like, look no further than Diamond Dotz!
