Understanding the anatomy of a crochet hook will help you to decide what hook will work best for you and your project.

August 2020 Crafty Time with Jessie At Home – End of summer, start of fall, and school from home.
August 2020 Crafty Time with Jessie wraps up the summer and gets us into fall. We learned some medieval crafts that I would normally do at my medieval vacation. I shared our school space at home for the kiddos. We also talked about the horrible actions against my brother and other medics and activists at peaceful protests.

July 2020 Crafty Time with Jessie At Home – I’m melting
July 2020 Crafty Time with Jessie featured felt crafts, loom knitting, wood painting, and lots of fun with various Plaid products. I mean, Plaid just keeps sending me the coolest goodies and I LOVE playing with them and sharing them with you. I also really enjoyed the day I learned to use a straight loom knitter because one of you asked how to use it. Keep sending me questions and suggestions so I can be sure to share info YOU want.

Week 15 Crafty Time with Jessie At Home – New Schedule Coming
Week 15 of Crafty Time with Jessie was the last full week of videos. Moving forward videos will be on Thursdays only, still at 11 am eastern time. This is all part of transitioning to our new-new normal. I don’t want to go back to what we were, I want us to be even better! So keep making beautiful creations and spreading kindness.

Week 14 Crafty Time with Jessie At Home – the only thing constant is change
Week 14 of Crafty Time with Jessie demonstrated how the only thing constant is change. Things got a little heavy on Wednesday, but sometimes that’s part of life and change and growing. On a lighter note, there was cool embroidery and new crochet and general fiber fun!

Doing the Right Thing – Power to the Yarnie
“The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.” — Dr Martin Luther King Jr
Starting several weeks ago various members of the Joy Creators/Stitch Ambassadors for Spinrite/Yarnspirations/Red Heart started sending emails to Spinrite asking them to take a stand against racism and make and implement an actionable plan to ensure inclusion and anti-racism in their company and in those they choose to represent them. These emails fell on deaf ears.
Week 13 Crafty Time with Jessie At Home – It’s OK to not be OK
Week 13 of Crafty Time with Jessie has been a bit of a rough week. I’ve had to remind myself several times that it’s OK to not be OK. Everything will be fine, but sometimes you just have to deal with a cruddy week. Thankfully I have awesome friends who always make things better. And of course, having 12 year olds who still cuddle on the couch with me helps a whole lot as well! Let’s not forget the wonderful stress-relieving powers of crafting. And of course, my lives with all of you have been very therapeutic as well. Thank you!

Knit Stitch
The knit stitch is the first stitch you need to learn after casting on, and it’s pretty easy when you break it down into its parts.
Week 12 Crafty Time with Jessie At Home – Wall Hangings and learning through failure
Week 12 of Crafty Time with Jessie has been off-the-wall! OK, I may be feeling a bit punny, but we did make a pretty wall hanging. On Thursday and Friday I also inadvertently demonstrated how sometimes the road to success travels through failure first, and how sometimes I think I know more than I do. You can’t be afraid to make mistakes, just go with it and learn from them!
