Holiday Reindeer are so lovable, and now you can create a beautiful holiday reindeer in a frame for your decor. The reindeer is a Diamond Art kit, and the frame is made with plastic canvas, yarn, and some scrap cardboard. I’ll teach you how!

There is a giveaway that ends on December 30th, 2019 at the end of this post.

Supplies

Holiday Reindeer Framed Diamond Art Tutorial by Jessie At Home - Pastic Canvas Frame

Frame

To begin I figured out how to make a frame with the plastic canvas. My canvas was 13.5″ on the longest side, so I had to improvise as you can see above. I cut 4 strips each the length of the long side of the canvas and 10 holes/11 “threads” wide. Then I overlapped them as shown in the photo above.

The inside of the frame fit just around the the image section of the Holiday Reindeer Diamond Art kit.

Next I took white yarn and stitched a design on the plastic canvas, taking care to keep the overlap. Be sure to wrap the edges of the canvas, and go around the outer corners a couple times. You can do this with any colors you like.

To add a little sparkle, I accented some of the frame with Red Heart Sparkle Yarn, which seems to be discontinued at this point. Red Heart Scrubby Sparkle will work just as well. There is no gold, but there’s a nice silver (called oyster) that would look wonderful.

Construction

Begin by using the spray adhesive to adhere the Holiday Reindeer Diamond Art to the cardboard. I used the side of a box as my cardboard.

Once the glue is set, cut out the image. Make sure to leave at least 1″ around the image.

Now use the hot glue to join the frame to the image. This is a good time to sandwich in some string or yarn to use as a hanger if you wish.

It’s all done and so pretty!!
