Cari is a fun slouch hat made with filet crochet sections. Plymouth Yarns Baby Alpaca DK weight is used to make this hat super soft and luxurious! Two bright buttons add a pop of color and interest to this stylish chapeau. The Cari Slouch Hat can be made from the yarn left over after you complete the Cari Continuous Shawl. Plymouth Yarn, Baby Alpaca DK 100% Baby Alpaca: Color A ~ color #100 (28 g/70 yd); Color B ~ color #401 (38 g/95 yd); Color C ~ 500 (22 g/55 yd)

US G/6/4.00 mm

Gauge:
18 sts x 22 rows = 4″ in sc

Hat Band:
Row 1: With color A, ch 97 (105), sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch. ~ 96 (104) sc
Rows 2&3: Turn, sc in each st across. ~ 96 (104) sc
Row 4: Turn, sc in first 3 sts, ch 3, skip 3, sc in each remaining st across. ~ 96 (104) sts
Rows 5&6: Turn, sc in each st across. ~ 96 (104) sc

Hat Sides:
Round 1: Turn, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), skip 1, dc in next st, ch 1, skip 1, dc in next st, ch 1, skip 1, 3 dc in next st, *[ch 1, skip 1, dc in next st] 3 times, ch 1, skip 1, 3 dc in next st, repeat from * until there are 9 sts left, ch 1, sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. ~ 110 (118) sts

Round 15: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each dc around, sl st to top of beginning ch 3. ~ 55 (59) sts
Round 16: Ch 3 (counts as dc), * skip 1, dc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st to top of beginning ch 3. ~ 28 (30) sts
Round 17: Ch 3 (counts as dc), * skip 1, dc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st to top of beginning ch 3. ~ 14 (15) sts

Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Weave tail through the top of all the sts of the last round and pull tight to close hole. Weave in all ends.

Sew buttons onto band, placing the center of the  first button in 1″ and the center of the next button in 2 1/2″.
