This Large Flat Flower has oh~so~many uses. It can be used as is as a coaster, for bunting, as an applique, or any way you can imagine. It can also be used to start the center of other projects. I’m sure you will see it used in many upcoming patterns of mine!

      • Hi jessie,
        Re: large flat flower
In Rnd 3, you indicate to “sl st into ch sp, sl st in between next 2 hdc2tog (see picture), (6dc in next ch sp, sl st in between next 2 hdc2tog) 8 times. Clip yarn and end off.”. However, I don’t see where to do a 2 hdctog in either round 1 or 2. Am I missing something? Could you clarify for me, please?

        • OK, I am surprised you are the first to catch that! It should say (and does now) dc2tog. When I wrote the pattern I started with hdc, and then changed the pattern to dc, I guess when I changed it, I didn’t catch all the edits before publishing. It should be right now!

        • Me again,

          Another question for you.

Rnd 4: change color, sl st in between 3rd and 4th dc of any petal, * ch3, sc over next sl st, ch3, sl st in between 3rd and 4th dc of next petal, rep from * 7 more times. This is a good place to stop for a smaller flower.

WHEN YOU GET TO THE END OF RND 4, DO YOU END WITH THE SLIP STITCH IN THE LAST PETAL AND THEN CHAIN 3 TO START ROW 5? OR DO YOU FINISH AT THE END OF ROUND 4 WITH A SINGLE CROCHET OVER THE LAST SL ST OF ROUND 3? AND THEN CHAIN 3 AND START THE NEXT ROW IN THE CHAIN 3 SPACE OF ROUND 4?

Rnd 5: ch3, (2dc, hdc) in same ch sp, *(hdc, 3dc) in next ch sp, (3dc, hdc) in next ch sp, rep from * 6 more times, (hdc, 3dc) in next ch sp, sl st to top of beg ch3, clip yarn and end off.

  1. Question: In the beginning of round 2 the instuctions read “sl st into ch sp, (ch2, dc, ch,dc2tog) all in same sp” If you are working in the same space how do you dc2tog? There are no stitches to work with. This also occurs in round 1 “ch2, dc, ch, (dc2tog, ch)” and is confusing to me. Can you clarify?

    • This was an earlier pattern of mine, and I used the wrong name for the stitch, I just fixed it. It is a double crochet cluster, which is worked the same as a dc2tog only you are working the whole thing into one st.

  2. Hi Jessie, I like this pattern, and I’m trying to make a coaster.
I have a questions, as I’m a novice at crocheting.
In Rnd 3 “Sl st into ch sp, sl st in between next 2 dccl (see picture), (6dc in next ch sp, sl st in between next 2 dccl) 8 times.” — Into which ch sp am I doing the 1st sl st – is it the ch sp after the 1st dc of Rnd 2? (Rnd 2: Sl st into ch sp, (ch2, dc, ch,dccl)
    Thanks
