Twisted Spirit ~ Twisted and Twirled MCAL #2

The second necklace in the Twisted and Twirled Crochet necklace series is made using the linen stitch. It has 4 full twists in it, which spins the half and half coloring in a fun effect. Choose your favorite team colors and use this necklace to show your team spirit! This sporty necklace can be worked up in no time with less than 50 yards of sport weight yarn.

The yarn used in this sample was donated by Oink Pigments as part of the Quest at the summer 2015 TNNA Needlearts Trade Show.

This necklace is part of the Twisted and Twirled MCAL (Mystery Crochet ALong).

Size:
21″ around

Yarn:
Oink Pigments Sport ~ 7g/22yds each of 2 different colors.
Sample shown in Sunny with a Chance of Peaches and Wine Knot Cabernet Sauvingyarn?

Hook:
US 5/F/3.75mm

Gauge:
24 sts in 4″ in linen stitch

Stitches and Skills used:
ch ~ chain
sl st ~ slip stitch
sc ~ single crochet
st(s) ~ stitch(es)

Notes:
This necklace can be made in just one color as well, or in various stripes. Have fun with it and make it your own!
Twisted Spirit is worked from the center out, with the starting chain in the center of the necklace. When working round 1, single crochets are placed in every other chain of the starting chain, and the yarn is cut after round 4. For round 5, single crochets are working into the chains of the starting chain that were NOT worked into in round 1, starting the second half of the necklace from the center again.

Pattern:
Round 1: Ch 120, sc in 4th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1, sc in next ch, repeat from * to end.

Twisting Necklace: Fold piece into a loop, being careful not to twist, once lined up, twist end without active loop 4 complete times, sl st to 2nd ch of the ch-3 sp at the end of the strip. See photos below:

Round 2: Sc in top of same ch-3 space as join, ch 1, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, repeat from * around, sl st to top of first sc of round.
Rounds 3~4: (Sc, ch 1) in each ch-1 space around, sl st to top of first sc of round.

Fasten off first color.

Round 5: With second color, (sc, ch 1) in each unworked ch from round 1, sl st to top of first sc of round.
Rounds 6~8: (Sc, ch 1) in each ch-1 space around, sl st to top of first sc of round.

Weave in all ends.
