Fan Stitch / Stacked Shell Stitch

Learn to make the fan stitch or stacked shell stitch with this video and written instructions. The sample used in this post is made with a US J/10, 6.0mm crochet hook, and Red Heart with Love yarn in Lettuce.

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)

FAN STITCH / STACKED SHELL STITCH – worked over a multiple of 4 plus 1; starting ch = multiple of 4 + 1 + 1
Row 1: Ch 22, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch. – 21 sc
Row 2: Turn, ch 3, skip 2 sc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next sc, *skip 3 sc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2dc) in next sc, repeat from * until 2 sc remain, dc in last sc.
Row 3: Turn, ch 3, * (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-1 sp, repeat from * to end, dc in top of ch 3.
Repeat row 3
