Today’s Stitchopedia will be how to make a crochet Plaited Cable. It is a post stitch cable worked over single crochet that looks like a braid or plait. Abbreviations:
fpdc – front post double crochet
fptr – front post treble crochet
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
Pattern:
Row 1: Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch. – {12 sc}
Rows 2-8 even: Turn, ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc in each st across.
Row 3: Turn, ch 1, sc in next 3 sts, fpdc around next 6 sts 2 rows below, sc in last 3 sts.
Row 5: Turn, ch 1, sc in next 3 sc, skip 2 post sts, fptr around next 2 post sts, fptr around 2 skipped sts working behind 2 previous sts, fpdc around next 2 post sts, sc in last 3 sc.
Row 7: Turn, ch 1, sc in next 3 sc, fpdc around next 2 post sts, skip 2 post sts, fptr around next 2 post sts, fptr around 2 skipped post sts working in front of previous 2 sts, sc in last 3 sc.
Repeat rows 5-8 for pattern.
