Arctic Friends are perfect for this time of year, and with the December Orange Art Box you can learn to draw and sculpt them! Vada and Kyla had a great time creating friends on bookmarks, postcards, and cards. Then made critters and more with clay, and they learned some skills they want to teach you.

Also, be sure to check out THIS post for Orange Friday deals and a giveaway that ends on December 8th, 2019.

The December Orange Art Box includes everything you need to make Arctic Friend themed cards, postcards, bookmarks, sculptures, and more. There is a how-to-draw booklet that your littles will love. The shapes used are easy, basic shapes so it even helps them create sculptures with the Model Magic in the box.

Here you can see the twins opening their box, and learning about the Orange Friday deals.

I loved watching the creativity this box inspired. It was really neat to see how the girls took turned the drawn images into little sculptures. Vada even used a bookmark to make lines in her clay. Model Magic is easy to use, not sticky, and dries in about a day. This means you don’t have to worry about clothing or carpet or adding water to keep it from drying!

I taught the kiddos a few tricks to help them with their sculpting (I mean, I do have a degree in this, I should be able to help, right?).

At one point, Kyla wanted to make a tiny little round disk for the belly of one of her arctic friends. I had her first roll a tiny little piece of clay into a ball. See it there between “Orange” and “Art”?

Next I had her take the polar bear off her glue stick and use the top to slowly press the ball into a disk.

Ta-da! The other side is perfectly smooth. If it’s too big or small you can adjust by using more or less clay and by pressing it more or less.

All the Model Magic in the box is white, and there are markers included. You can use the markers to color your finished creations, or even let them dry and then paint them with paint from previous boxes. However, we chose to “dye” the Model Magic.

Vada is showing you how in these photos. First she smushed the clay and then colored it with a marker. Next she folded it up and then stretched it. She kept folding and stretching until it was well mixed. If she wanted it darker, or wanted to add another color to change the color a bit, she just repeated the process.

Look at all the colors the kiddos were able to make. I think they got much more creative by having to dye the clay then if they had been given a few different colors. Plus this allowed them to make any colors. They still have one unopened bag of Model Magic left. Plus the markers are still useful and they put the how-to-draw booklet in their craft books.

The girls have some super cute bookmarks to keep or give. Kyla and Vada LOVE to draw, so they really took to the how-to-draw book. This box felt like it was made for them!
