Gemma is a striped crochet shawl featuring sections of double crochet interspersed with sections of post stitch filet, and finished with a lace border. Made in Anzula Ava Sport weight it flows beautifully and will keep the chill off your shoulders. Make it in the lovely shades of blue and green as seen in the sample, or in colors of your choosing.

dc – double crochet

Pattern:
Row 1: Ch 4, (dc, ch  2, 2 dc) in first ch made, turn. – {4 dc}
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 2 dc in same st, dc in next st, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, dc in next st, 3 dc in last st, turn. – {12 dc}
Rows 3-9: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in each st to ch-2 sp, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, dc in each st until 1 st remains, 3 dc in last st, turn. – {68 dc after completing Row 7}
Row 10: Switch to Color B, ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), dc in same st, (ch 1, skip 1, dc in next st) repeat until 1 st remains before ch-2 sp, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, (ch 1, skip 1, dc in next st, until 2 sts remain, ch 1, skip 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last st, turn.
Rows 11, 13: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), dc in same st, (ch 1, fpdc around next st) until 1 dc remains before ch-2 sp, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1, skip 1, (fpdc around next st, ch 1) until 1 st remains, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last st, turn.

Fasten off and weave in ends. Wet block shawl – sample was blocked with Unicorn Clean Fibre Rinse.

    My grandson’s name is Jesse & his new daughter, my first great- grandchild is named Gemma. I guess it’s destiny that I have to make this shawl.
