Purse Tassels - free pattern by Jessie At Home - 1Size:

any – Berroco Indigo used in the sample

Whatever size goes with your yarn

doesn’t matter

Other supplies:
beading needle
quilting thread
beads – Bead Biz beads used in sample

Stitches and Abbreviations:
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)

Leaving a 6″ tail at both ends, chain a cord to your desired length. The sample is 9 inches.

Wrap yarn around a firm object about 3-4″ wide (such as a cell phone) 20 times and cut along one side to make tassel strings. Repeat for 2nd tassel.

Use the tails from the cord to tie the center of the tassels to the ends of the cords.

Using the quilting thread and needle, sew around the tassel about 1/2″ below the tie to make the band around the tassel. Tie off but do not cut thread.

Add beads to thread and wrap around band 2 times. Tie off and cut thread

Use or give and enjoy!

  1. Perfect! I think I’ll put tassels on mom’s shawl instead of Pom poms! I need t put a crochet string on the end anyway and tassels will work better!

  2. Thank you for sharing this. I love tassels on purses and these are perfect. Can’t wait to use up my beads.
