This fun Little Brick Stitch pattern is made using slip stitches and changing colors. It is actually a pretty easy stitch to master which creates a great textured look. Made in 2 colors is resembles bricks, but you could make it in one color as well. The Little Brick Square is part of the Harmony Blanket Blog Hop KAL, and you can find more details HERE. Use this square to create a blanket, or use the stitch pattern to create just about anything you want.
Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice 100% acrylic worsted weight
Lilac 191: Color A
Dusty Green 173: Color B
16 sts x 22 rows = 4” [10 cm] in stockinette
Stitches and Abbreviations:
k – knit
p – purl
wyib – with yarn in back
wyif – with yarn in front
st(s) – stitch(es)
To simply use the stitch pattern in another project, cast on a multiple of 4 plus 3 (skip the first 4 and last 4 stitches of the square as they are part of the border, along with the first 2 and last 2 rows).
Cast On 27 With Color A
Row 1: K to last st, p1.
Rows 2-4: Slip 1, k to last st, p1.
Row 5: With Color B, Slip 1, k4, *wyib slip 1, k3; repeat from * until 6 sts remain, wyib slip 1, k4, p1.
Row 6: Slip 1, k3, p1, wyif slip 1, *p3, wyif slip 1; repeat from * until 5 sts remain, p1, k3, p1.
Rows 7 & 8: With Color A, slip 1, k to last st, p1.
Row 9: With Color B, slip 1, k3, *k3, wyib slip 1; repeat from * until 7 sts remain, k6, p1.
Row 10: Slip 1, k3, p3, *wyif slip 1, p3; repeat from * until 4 sts remain, k3, p1.
Rows 11 & 12: With Color A, slip 1, k to last st, p1.
Repeat rows 5-12 four more times, then repeat rows 11 & 12 once more.
Bind off knit wise.
Weave in all ends.
Block to a 6″ square.
