Timber! …or: My new Ryobi tools!

TIMBER!! Today I’m sharing pictures of the demo of the old deck and of my newest Ryobi tools. I’ll share more photos of the construction at a later date, I have lots of photos, so I think a few posts will be the best way to go. If you need a refresher, here is the “before” post.

Taking the deck apartPin

The fist thing that had to happen before we could build a new deck was the demo of the old deck. The girls had a great time helping Grandpa with the demo. They learned a lot, and had a blast!

The deck is gone!Pin

Eventually (actually much quicker than I thought), we had a floating door on the side of our house. Things looked quite bare.

Digging HolesPin

The first step after demo was to dig the post holes and set the posts. The girls helped again. Kyla even built a model of Mt. Etna, complete with trailing lava and two brown rocks representing Grammie and Grandpa’s house and Camillo’s house.

My new Ryobi toolsPin

My favorite part of Saturday was the FedEx delivery of my new tools from Ryobi!! As any of you who have been reading my blog for a while know, I am a BIG fan of Ryobi. They are great tools at affordable prices – the best of both worlds!

There will be a separate post later on for a review of these two tools – an awesome sliding miter saw and a stand for the saw.

Putting the miter saw and stand togetherPinThe girls helped Dad/Grandpa and me put the stand and the saw together. “Oh, cool!” was heard from my father and me many times during the very short amount of time it took to set everything up.

First cut - square out of the boxPin

Here is the first cut on my new Ryobi Sliding Miter Saw – perfectly square, right out of the box!

Stay tuned for more pictures of the construction of the new deck.

  1. Love it. My husband tore off a rotten deck from one of our houses in St Charles IL. When he went to dig the posts, he found the old cistern. (The house was built as a summer cottage in 1884.) Can’t wait for the next round of pictures.
