Patriotic Party CAL/KAL week 3

Hello my friends! I have seen a lot of you over in the Facebook group for the Patriotic Party CAK/KAL, but not a lot of your pictures. I sure would LOVE to see what you have been creating ~ no more being shy, share away over there! 🙂

In that spirit, I have some sneak peak pictures of some patterns to come. Remember to keep checking the original CAL/KAL post for the list of all the patterns we are using. This morning was muffins for moms at the school. From 8:15 to 8:45 the K-3 children and their moms are invited into the cafeteria for muffins, bagels, fruit, juice, and coffee. I wasn’t feeling great this morning when I woke up, so I decided to drive; normally we walk when it’s not too cold or raining out. The girls and I remembered to snap a picture on the way out the door. It’s not the greatest picture, like I said, I wasn’t feeling well.

My neighbor Claudine also drove with her kids. About a block from the school, my car rolled out in front of her and stopped in the intersection. At first she thought that I saw her and had stopped to wave, but that seemed odd. Then she noticed no one was driving. She got out to see what was going on, and 2 other mothers were out there. One told her she was parking behind my car and her car wouldn’t stop and she hit mine.

While playing around with mitered squares to make coasters, I realized they could be made with an even or odd number of stitches, depending on how the decreases are made. So, rather than making that choice for you, I thought I would write a double pattern for you today. One mitered square coaster that starts with an even number of stitches and uses two decreases in the center, and one mitered square coaster that starts with an odd number of stitches and uses a double decrease in the center. Of course, there are still many more ways to make a mitered square, these are just my current favorites for evens and odds.

Tonight I have a collection of purple crochet patterns to share with you. Of course, you can make your crochet creations in whatever color you like, but these sure are pretty in purple.

New~To~Me Camera!

I have a new~to~me camera!!! It is a gently used Nikon CoolPix P510 that I bought from my awesome friend (and crochet mom) Kim. It arrived on Friday and I immediately ran around the house snapping pictures of EVERYTHING! I’m having way too much fun, and I haven’t even gotten to reading the manual yet. Imagine the fun that will happen then!!

So, here are some of the camera test photos, along with a little about our weekend.

As I said, I started out by running around the house snapping pictures of everything. Mostly I took pictures that I knew would have not worked so well in the past, just to see how the new camera could handle a challenge.

We have had a very busy couple of weeks. There have been a lot of activities with the school and the Girl Scouts. Plus playing. Lots of playing. And school for the girls and working for me. It’s been a blur. But I did manage to get some snaps along the way, so here are a few.
