All Consuming…

Kyla’s room reno seems to be all consuming right now. But there is good news for you ~ I am making several items for her room in knit and crochet, and I will be sharing all those patterns for FREE right here on my blog!

I have already started sharing about the rug. I am also thinking of some sort of crown/jewel crochet trim for the bottom of the window valance. Maybe a filet crochet privacy curtain that can just stay down under her regular curtains. Some pillow covers ~ most likely knit with a pattern that coordinates with the rug. Maybe a crown bunting…

Like I said: All consuming.

Today I am taking a break from her room. At least for most of the day. I have a few patterns I need to finish up for a certain yarn company that I <3 ! Than if I have some time maybe I will work on more yarnie stuff for her room.

I did finish the wall and ceiling painting yesterday. Here are colors 3, 4, and 5. It’s very pink. I can’t wait to get the curtains and other things in the room that will break up some of that pink.

Next I need to paint the ceiling trim and get it up. Clean the window and put up it’s trim. Then lay the floor and do the baseboard trim and the vertical trim (in all the corners.) Then I can do all the curtains. Before we can put in the dresser I need to refurbish it a bit. There will be some paint touch ups, and some various wood items that are going in the room that need to be painted. Oh, and I need to sand the door and paint it and put it back up (hanging the door will be the last thing, because it is nice not to have it in the way.) And we still need to buy her a twin mattress and the basic metal frame. We can’t do anything more than that as there is just enough room for the mattress, as in fits only by about 1 1/2 inches, so no head or footboard. Eventually I would like to build a platform to put the mattress on; either with drawers underneath, or with a hide~away bed underneath, but that could even be a next year thing. I am fine with the metal frame and a bed skirt for now.

I finished the rug. It is pinned on my work table being blocked right now. Would you like to see?

It was fun to make it one panel at a time, and watch it grow! I did write the pattern down, and I will share it with you once I get it edited together. I may wait until the room is done to share all the patterns so I can show the items in their homes. I REALLY hope to have the room done in the next week or two. It is taking longer than I planned because I am basically doing it by myself. Doug has only been able to help for a few hours on a few days. Mostly he put the new ceiling up, painted the ceiling, and painted the trim (other than the ceiling trim.) And I got him to strip the door parts and one side of the door. After I stripped one side, I decided he could finish it!

I have a few old pillows and one pillow form I am going to cover in various ways for the room as well.

I always try to remember to keep old couch pillows so I can recover them to match new decor. These 3 old pillows are actually from InsaniTea. The bolster (round) pillow form was bought on Saturday when we went fabric shopping, because no Princess room would be complete without a bolster pillow!

Well, I have to get to those patterns that have nothing to do with Kyla’s room. Have a nice day!
