The Craft Hope red scarves should have found their way to the Orphan Foundation of America by now. It was a lot of fun making them.
This one was made by starting with a flat circle in red. I then squared it out with the white, and finished with red again. It was a bunch of squares put together with the join-as-you-go method. The boarder is just two rows of single crochet. Here is a close up.

So remember how I told you about our friend Janice? She is very sick with cancer and when asked what her friends could do for her, she said she wanted a quilt. I made three squares for the quilt, and Doug made one, also. They have been sent to Rose who will put them together with all the other squares and turn them into a quilt.
I started with a log cabin. I’ve never made one before, but always wanted to. Now after making one square, I would love to do a whole quilt.
After the traditional log cabin, I thought “why not do the same thing with another shape?” So here you have a triangle. Who knows, maybe that log cabin quilt I want to make one day will be hexagons, ’cause we know my fondness for hexagons!
This weekend the girls and I had a lot of fun making and playing in a blanket fort.
I even got them both to pose for me. Here is Kyla making a “cheese” face.

Well, this was an interesting weekend full of good and bad.

I was cleaning up a bit in my bedroom and needed a place for some pens. So I grabbed an old ~ cleaned ~ pickle jar, and some scrap fabric and…
I like it. It makes me happy and only took a few minutes. Good idea for all sorts of things. Knitting needles, crochet hooks, brushes, you can even use smaller bottles for yarn needles.
I have been in a bit of a funk for the past few days. It seems to be going around blogland. Maybe it’s the weather. No snow to play in, but not warm enough to go play in the park. Short days are a bummer, I like the sunlight. Anyway, I will stop passing my funk on to you, but this post will probably just be a lot of pics and few words.
Last weekend we went to one of our medieval events. We are involved with two medieval groups, a smaller group called the MSR that is in and around the NYC/Long Island area, and a larger group called the SCA that is all over the country and in a few other countries as well. Quite a few WiPs here. Some that are just about to start, and others that have already begun. As you may have noticed, I finally posted the reveal of the Flower to Hexagon Granny Blanket last night! So that one is done.
I’ll start off with two WiPs that are about to be ~ so maybe they’re not “in progress” yet, but they will be soon. With the holidays and then the cord issues with my computer, I got very far behind in the blogs I enjoy reading. I missed the announcement of the next Craft Hope project. Luckily it is not due until Valentine’s day, and it should be a rather fast project. It is a beautiful red scarf for foster care teens. This project is much more specific then the others, but it looks like fun to me, and it’s for a good cause, so I’m fine with that! So here it is, a rather late reveal for the flower to hexagon blanket. I finished just after Christmas. If you remember, I first started planning this blanket back in the middle of September. I even made a tutorial for you. Two and a half months after starting,
A lot has gone on here since my laptop wire went kaput. I know I told you I finished the hex blanket and started the next one, but I still haven’t gotten good pictures. As soon as I do I will put up a reveal post. I will also be posting a 2010 to-do list of projects, and you will be able to follow along with my *hopeful* progress.
Last weekend we went to the Meadowlands Expo Center for a big electronic sale. There was a lot of other fun goodies, too. Here is a shot of our loot. There was also a DVD/VCR player we got for the TV in our bedroom. It almost never gets used, but it’s nice to have once and a while. Plus with a DVD player in there I can work out in the bedroom when Doug and the girls are in the living room. Cool.

Every other month I receive my issue of Creative Home Arts magazine, full of fun crafty ideas. Lots o’ the ideas within come from the readers. Every issue they announce a contest with prizes ranging from $25 to $750. They also show the winners from 2 issues prior. With this issue there was a last call for a card making contest, and the announcement of a needle arts contest. You can use something you already made; it does not have to be made just for the contest. To enter you just send in photos of the craft, and a short description. So I decided to enter both. I’m sharing the entries here with you.
