Hello! As I told you the other day, Wednesday and Thursday were the book fair days at the girl’s school.

Ready-for-the-book-fairPin

It was tons of fun. The kids REALLY love books.

They-Really-Want-Books!Pin

Really LOVE books! Recess was like a scene from a zombie apocalypse movie.

We-bought-a-few-booksPin

I came home on Thursday with just a few books.

My-book-selectionPin

These are the books that I chose. I thought the cookbook would be fun for bonding with the girls over the summer break. There are some great looking recipes in there!! The Mo Willems book is because the girls LOVE Mo Willems, and the Curious George book is because I LOVE Curious George, and I thought that it would be good summer reading for Kyla. I grabbed the Sophia book for Kyla and the Star Wars book for Vada.

Of  course, when the girls came to the book fair on Thursday, they each ended up picking out a few more books they wanted. These are Vada’s choices.

And here we have Kyla’s choices. After the 30% discount, and the $5.00 voucher per girl, I ended up spending about $55 on books. Not bad for all that we got. Doug and I both agree that the book fair falls into the category of “we work hard so we can do this without thought of money”. Not that we really have money to throw around, but some things are totally worth it!!

At last night’s girl scout meeting, Lauren talked to the girls about making the world a better place. We walked around the school letting the girls find trash for Lauren to pick up. If we do this again next year we will get plastic gloves and trash bags for all the girls so that Lauren doesn’t have to run around like crazy. The girls were finding trash faster than she could pick it up. It was mostly water bottle caps. Lots of water bottle caps.

Jessica found some!

This morning when I dropped off the girls at school Vada’s teacher said she had a very good day yesterday. Vada has been struggling with her self control. Her teacher has the same issue as I do; Vada is a sweet girl with a huge heart, but she just forgets to behave sometimes. She likes her friends, so she talks to them, even in class. She doesn’t like when she sees something she thinks is an injustice, so she tries  to fix it, sometimes causing her to get very frustrated in class. She loves to run and play so much that she loses herself to it, so she gets a little out of hand in P.E. But she is so loving, and so very smart. It’s not like she is being “bad”, she just forgets to behave.

Yesterday a friend of mine who teaches at the school told me she is one of the lunch detention teachers, and she has many visits from Vada. Whenever she does not finish her class work (because she is chatting with her friends), she has to go over to lunch detention after she finishes eating and finish her work. Then she can go to recess. My friend says she loves her little visits from Vada. I keep hoping Vada will decide she wants more time at recess, so she will finish her class work in class. *Yes, I told her teacher that she should feel free to use lunch detention with Vada if she feels it may help or is needed.

Anyway, Vada’s teacher said she had a great day yesterday. When I picked the girls up from school this afternoon, I checked with her teacher and she said that Vada had another great day today. So I decided we needed to reward her and celebrate with a girl’s “night’. (OK, more of a girl’s early evening)

Stop-one-Chevy's-for-ice-creamPin

We had a couple of free ice cream coupon from Chevy’s, so we stopped there first. I told them that we were just there for the 2 free ice creams, and one more I would have to pay for, for me, but they still gave us the free chips and salsa while we waited. I thought that was quite nice. We sat outside, had our chips and salsa and ice cream, and danced to the music.

Stop-two-booksPin

Next stop was the bookstore to find some Father’s Day gifts for Doug.

hee-heePin

This just amused me.

The girls decided we should have dinner at the bookstore cafe, so we had some sandwiches and got some cheesecake to go for dessert later.

girl's-night-nailsPin

When we got home, we put in Toy Story 2, and I did the girl’s nails. Then we had some cheesecake! We had a great evening. When the girls went to bed, I tucked in Kyla first. Than I went into Vada’s room and tucked her in. She was so sweet. She really loved her day. She kept asking if she could sleep with me. So right now she is asleep in my bed. Who can say no to “You’re my best Mommy ever and I love you so much.” I look forward to some cuddles when bedtime arrives! I’ll share some yarnieness with you soon.
