The Candy Cardi is so easy to make and can be made to nearly any size. In this pattern I explain how to make it to the size you need. The Candy Cardi is a super simple cardigan from two hexagons with no added frills. This cardigan is warm and cozy and great for a comfy day at home in the winter, or for going out and about. There are plenty of colorways of Premier Candy Shop yarn so you can make the Candy Cardi to fit your own color tastes or those of the special person you want to make one for!
The yarn used to make this pattern sample was provided by Premier Yarns.

Stitches and Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Getting Started:
To determine your size you need to take just one measurement. Have the person who will be wearing the cardigan stand straight with their arm just slightly out from their side and their elbow bent almost 90 degrees. Measure from the center of the back of neck to the shoulder, hold the measuring tape there, then continue the measurement to the elbow, hold the tape down there, then continue the measurement to the wrist bone. Write down this complete measurement.
Pattern:
Hexagon (make 2)
Rnd 1: Ch 4, sl st in first ch to make a ring, ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch 2 here and throughout), [dc, ch 2] in ring 5 times, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 5 to join, sl st into ch-2 sp. – {1 dc on each of 6 sides}
Rnd 2: Ch 5, dc in same ch-2 sp, [dc in next dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in ch-2 sp] 5 times, dc in next dc, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 5 to join, sl st into ch-2 sp. – {3 dc on each of 6 sides}
Rnd 3: Ch 5, 3 dc in same ch-2 sp, ch 1 [(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1] 5 times, 2 dc in ch-2 sp, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 5 to join, sl st into ch-2 sp. – {2 sets of 3 dc on each of 6 sides}
Rnd 4: Ch 5, 3 dc in same ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, [(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1] 5 times, 2 dc in ch-2 sp, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 5 to join, sl st into ch-2 sp. – {3 sets of 3 dc on each of 6 sides}
Rnd 5: Ch 5, 3 dc in ch-2 sp, ch 1, (3 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1) to ch-2 sp, [(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1, (3 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1) to ch-2 sp] 5 times, 2 dc in ch-2 sp, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 5 to join, sl st into ch-2 sp. – {4 sets of 3 dc on each of 6 sides}
Repeat Rnd 5 until each side of piece is the length of the measurement taken for the wearer.
Joining:
Lay the hexagon on a flat surface. It will be very rippled.
Find the center (estimate is fine) of one side and hold it with one hand, skip two sides and find the center of the next side (estimate is fine) and hold it with the other hand. Fold the hexagon in half with the front/right sides together by using these two points as the folding points. The hexagon will become a right angle when folded in half, and it will lay flat.
The two long sides of the piece meet at the point of the piece. Measure in along one of the long sides from the point 4″ for a child’s size, 5″ for an adult size, or 6″ for a plus size (this is half the neck opening), seam the side shut from that point to the end of the side. This will be the seam along the top of one arm.
Repeat with the other hexagon.
Turn the hexagons right side out and lay them on a flat surface with the long sides that were NOT seamed touching. Fold open the top layer of the long sides on both halves. Seam the bottom layer of both halves together along the entire length of the long side.
