As Elise’s friend from undergrad, I never met her little sister, Krista. I have, however, heard of Krista’s beautiful light and love for crochet. I have written these two simple crochet coaster patterns to help pass on Krista’s joy to all who keep her in their memories, and to all who only have heard of the amazing person she was.

Hexagon Dish Scrubby or Trivet
I love the usefulness and cleanliness of crochet scrubbies! The Hexagon Dish Scrubby has lots of texture so it can scrub well. You can make it larger to be used as a trivet as well. If you make 7 or 8 of them, you can use a new one every day and then toss them in the wash once a week. This makes them more clean, more green, and more affordable then disposable sponges.

Intermediate Skill Level
Designed by Jessie Rayot
This was one of the first patterns I designed; I have updated it to make it easier to follow, and to use a yarn that is not discontinued. It was originally designed to take the place of a glass inset on a table at my friend’s tea shop. The ends can be made longer to make this a long table runner, or they can be kept as is for a short table runner or a table topper.
