Now that you have your creepy-crawly Spider Placemats that we made last week, how about rounding out your set with some Spider Coasters! Now you can protect your tables and freak out your guests all at once. You could even join together a bunch of these little squares to make a table runner or a scarf, just get creative and have fun.

Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, 100% Cotton, worsted weight, 100 g/186 yds
Tangerine 133: Color A – 1 skein, 8 g/15 yds
Black 153: Color B – 1 skein, 3 g/ 6 yds
Hook:
US-7, 4.5mm
Gauge:
16 sts x 18 rows = 4” [10 cm] in sc

ch – chain
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Getting Started:
Pattern:
Rnd 1: With Color B, ch 3, sl st to first ch made to form a loop, ch 1 (does not count as a st here or throughout), 6 sc in loop, sl st to fist sc to join. – {6 sc}
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in each of next 5 sc, sl st to fist sc to join. – {12 sc}
Rnd 3: With Color A, ch 3, sc in same st, [sc in each of next 2 sc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next sc] 3 times, sc in each of next 2 sc, sc once more in next st, sl st to 2nd ch of beginning ch 3. – {16 sc}
Rnds 4-8: Sl st into ch-2, ch 3, sc in same st, [sc in each sc to ch-2 corner, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2] 3 times, sc in each sc to ch-2 corner, sc once more in ch 2, sl st to 2nd ch of beginning ch 3. – {48 sc after Rnd 8}
Rnd 9: Sl st into ch-2, ch 3, sc in same st, [sc in each sc to ch-2 corner, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2] 3 times, sc in each sc to ch-2 corner, sc once more in ch 2, sl st to 2nd ch of beginning ch 3. – {56 sc}
Finishing
Make legs with long stitches of Color B.
