Fall Sparkles celebrates my love of fall colors and sparkles. This triangular shawl features little leaves throughout, along with some beautiful beads spread throughout.

4.0 mm (US G/6) Furls Streamline

dc – double crochet
dc3tog – double crochet 3 together
rs – right side
sc – single crochet

This pattern was originally made with 2 skeins of Crystal Palace Mini Mochi: Sunset 351 which is now discontinued.

Special Stitches

bpc – beaded picot: ch 2, pb, ch 1, sl st in first ch made.
dch2 – double chain 2: Insert hook into designated st (usually the first st), yo, pull through (2 loops on hook), yo, pull through both loops, insert hook in left vertical loop of st part just made, yo, pull through (2 loops on hook), yo, pull through both loops.
pb – place bead: remove hook from loop, place bead on small hook, grab loop with small hook and slide bead down, move loop back to larger hook.

Getting Started
  • Read through all instructions before beginning.
  • Row counts are at the end of each Row after the period, if the count has changed from the previous Row. {count here}
  • Starting with row 2, each row will end when you can not make another full repeat. There will be a few stitches left in the previous row, just leave them unworked.

Pattern

Row 1: Ch 178, sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 3, skip 1, dc3tog, skip 1, ch 3, sc in next st, *ch 5, skip 3, sc in next st, ch 3, skip 1, dc3tog, skip 1, ch 3, sc in next st; repeat from * to end. {18 dc3tog}

Row 2: Turn, sl st in first 2 chs, ch, sc in top of dc3tog, *ch 4, pb, ch 1, 5 dc in 3rd ch of ch-5 sp, pb, ch 5, sc in top of dc3tog; repeat from * to end. {17 sets of 5 dc}

Row 3: Turn, sl st in first 2 chs, ch 1, skip 1, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 1 dc, dc3tog, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch of ch-5 sp, *ch 5, sc in 4th ch of ch-5 sp, ch 3, skip 1 dc, dc3tog, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch of ch-5 sp; repeat from * to end. {17 dc3tog}

Rows 4-35: Repeat rows 2&3 sixteen times, there will be only one leaf made with the final 2 rows.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Border

There will be 1 long side (where the starting chain is) and 2 shorter sides. Join yarn at the corner of the long side and a short side, and work border along the 2 short sides.

Row 1 (RS): Place slip knot on hook, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in first sp, (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch sp) through last sp of side, (ch 1, 3 dc) once more in same sp, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in first sp of next side, (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch sp) through last sp of side, (ch 1, 3 dc) once more in same sp. {74 sets of 3 dc}

Row 2: Turn, dch2 in first st, ch 3, (dc in ch-1 sp, ch 3) across to ch-3 corner, (dc, ch 3, dc, ch 3, dc) in ch-3 corner, (ch 3, dc in ch-1 sp) across, ch 3, dc in last st. {77 dc}

Row 3: Turn, dch2 in first st, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in first ch-3 sp, (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp) across to (ch-3, dc, ch-3) corner, ch 1, 3 dc in first ch-3 of corner, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 of corner, (ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp) across through end of row, (ch 1, 3 dc) once more in last ch-3 sp. {78 sets of 3 dc}

Row 4: Turn, ch 3, bpc, ch 3, sc in ch-1 sp, (ch 3, bpc, ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) across to ch-3 corner sp, ch 3, bpc, ch 3, (sc, ch 3, bpd, ch 3, sc) in ch-3 corner, (ch 3, bpc, ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) across to end of row, ch 3, bpc, ch 3, sc in last st. {79 bpc}

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

This project NEEDS to be blocked. Soak shawl for 5 minutes, roll up in towel and squeeze (do not wring) dry, then block flat and let dry completely.
