Holiday Poncho – Be the height of fashion this holiday season!

The Holiday Poncho is great for cold evenings out and about, or even at home. It will work wonderfully in the colors listed for Valentine’s day as well. The chunky crocheting and fringe are right in line with the current style; you will be the envy of the Holiday Party!

Hook:
US-N, 9.00mm

Gauge:
8 sts x 5 rows = 4” [10 cm] in dc using 2 strands of yarn

Getting Started:
Throughout the pattern, hold 2 strands of yarn together as one.

Pattern:

Top sections: Make 2
Row 1: With A and A, ch 24, dc in 4th st from hook (the last 3 chs made count as first dc), dc in each remaining ch. – {24 dc}
Rows 2&3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in each remaining st across. – {24 dc}
Repeat row 2, three times with A and B.
Repeat row 2, three times with B and B.
Repeat row 2, three times with B and C.
Repeat row 2, three times with C and C.
Repeat row 2, three times with C and D.
Repeat row 2, three times with D and D.
Repeat row 2, three times with D and E.
Repeat row 2, three times with E and E.
Finish off and weave in all ends.

Sew two top sections together as indicated in picture below, joining yellow to yellow and orange to orange:

Rnd 1: Join 2 strands of Color F to one of the bottom points of poncho, ch 6 (counts as dc, ch 3 here and throughout), (dc, ch 1, dc) in same sp, (dc, ch 1, dc) in side of each dc to seam, skip 1, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, skip 1; repeat from * to next corner, (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 3, dc, ch 1, dc) in corner, (dc, ch 1, dc) in side of each dc to seam, skip 1, **(dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, skip 1; repeat from ** to corner, dc, ch 1, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 6, sl st into ch-3 sp.
Rnd 2: Ch 6, (dc, ch 1, dc) in same sp, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch-1 sp to corner, (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 3, dc, ch 1, dc) in ch-3 corner, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch-1 sp to corner, (dc, ch 1) in ch-3 corner, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 6, sl st into ch-3 sp.
Repeat row 2, two times with F and G.
Repeat row 2, two times with G and G.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Finishing:
Cut tassels from Colors G and H (I used a dvd case to wrap mine). Use 3 strands of each color for each tassel and attach a tassel to each ch-1 and ch-3 space at the bottom of the poncho.
