Memorial Day and other Family Fun

It’s been some time since I have shared family photos with you all! So here are some fun snaps and a bit about what we have all been up to over the last month or so

Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you!) was on a Monday, so Doug and the girls celebrated on Sunday with lots of Star Wars toys. It was adorable.

Sometimes Kyla’s class takes a long time to get out of school. Vada gets impatient.

Girl-Scout-SWAPS-May-2015Pin

This weekend we are taking the Girl Scout troop camping!! It is our service unit’s Camporee. We leave today and I am ridiculously excited. In preparation for the trip, the girls made 150 little beaded pins for S.W.A.P.s. All the girls at the camp get 1 S.W.A.P. from each troop as a keepsake from the trip.

Memorial-Day-with-Tim-May-2015Pin

On Memorial Day, we headed over to Tim and Christina’s. Tim is Doug’s younger brother, and Christina is his fiance. I adore her. She is nice, smart, and good for Tim. She’s beautiful as well, which is nice, but the nice, smart, and good for Tim parts are what matter the most. Oh, and she is great with the kids! Another awesome trait. The pictures above are Tim, and then Doug’s car and his sister Joan’s car. I had to snap a photo of the cars next to each other because I thought it was so cute that Doug and Joan have the same car in different colors.

Joan’s daughter has 2 kids of her own (yup, I am a great aunt!) The youngest is Lily, and she was just 2 weeks old on Memorial day. The girls loved bonding with her. Aren’t they all the sweetest together? The girls had a hard time believing they were even smaller than her when they were born.

So I came home from the TNNA trade show on Tuesday night of last week. I then spent all day Thursday and Friday at the school for the book fair. As always, we had a great time. The PTO gave each child in the school a $5 voucher so that they all could have summer reading. I love how excited the kids who don’t come in with money get when the can still buy a book! I may have spent a rather large amount of money at the book fair. The stack of books was about 10 inches high (I think it was over a dozen books) when I finally checked out. Every time I work the book fair and tell Doug how much money I spent, he just smiles and says “sounds good to me.” We both agree that books are good. 😉

Well, that is all for now. Here are links to some of the books the girls got at the fair. They are affiliate links, so if you click on them and buy them (or something else from Amazon while you are there) you are helping to support this blog and Kyla and Vada’s book addiction.

  1. Hi Jessie, I love your Skewed knitted scarf pattern, but how do I do a ‘turn’ before I nfb?
    Thanking you for a reply,

  2. We love books too. Niamh always had lots! John didn’t find building new bookcases quite so much fun though!
The camp swaps are pretty…we did similar ones with silver and gold beads (to go with the song) when Niamh went to an international jamboree.
