Getting Started:
Follow the schematic to for the center color of each square and the color layout.
Start with the bottom left corner square of the blanket and make each square from left to right, joining them as you go. Then make the next row up, also from left to right, and also joining as you go. Once all 35 squares are made, move onto the border.
The squares can also be made without joining them as you go, just stitch them together before the border is added.

How to join as you go:
Make the square as written until the last round. Start the last round of the square and work until the first corner that needs to be joined is reached, make the first ch of the corner as normal, to make the second ch, first insert the hook from front to back into the corner ch that is being joined into, then make the chain by yarning over and pulling through everything on the hook.
Now complete the next 3 dc, as written in pattern, join the next ch stitch by first inserting the hook from front to back in the chain space being joined into, then make the chain by yarning over and pulling through everything on the hook, continue with this step until the next corner is reached.
Join the first ch of the corner ch-2 to the corner being joined into, join the second chain to the corner of the next square being joined to (if joining to more than one square) and continue this side as before.
Once finished joining however many squares need to be joined, continue the round as written in the pattern to the end.
