Really though, oversized everything seems to be the thing of the moment, and that includes pom poms and tassels of all shapes and sizes, though bigger does seem to be better. It’s all part of the BOHO fashion movement, and I have to say, I love it! So, I’ve found some fun free patterns full of pom poms and tassels for you.

French Round Up

Last week, several of my friends and colleagues posted free crochet and knit patterns with French themes along with info on how you can help out in the wake of the Paris attacks. I have put together a round up of those patterns, along with a few other patterns that fit into the theme. At the end of the round up, you will find a list of ways you can help.

Amalthea is a striped shawl that mixes lace and solid sections and is made from the corner out, creating an asymmetrical and intriguing look.

Gradient Crochet Pattern Round Up

I’ve been seeing more and more gradient and ombre patterns popping up lately, and I love it! I’m quite fond of the way they can subtly move from one color into the next, so that you often can’t even notice where the changes happened! There are many ways to achieve this look, from a yarn that does it for you, to pacts of yarns made to work together as a gradient, to picking out the yarn colors on your own. I have searched around and found several examples of these fun color changes for this week’s round up!

Sometimes I get on kicks with my crochet, and currently I’m on a cable kick. I just love the texture and fun designs they create. There are several ways to make crochet cables, the most common of which is post stitch cables. Once you get the idea of how to make them down, they’re actually pretty easy! Off to Sausalito

Off to Sausalito is a striking unisex hat that works wonderfully with Camillo’s Scarf. Made with Crystal Palace Sausalito yarn and worked in continuous rounds, it features spiraling stripes in a simple single crochet v~stitch. The hat is actually rather easy to make, though I listed it as intermediate because it can be tricky to find the ch-1 to work into sometimes, and because of the continuous rounds. However, if you just take your time and go carefully, it becomes easy after a few rounds.

Winter Sets Round Up

How did this happen? It’s time to think about winter! Oh, my… There are plenty of patterns for bits and pieces of winter accessories, but sometimes it nice to match. Maybe you want a set of patterns that will work for the whole family, or maybe you want a hat and scarf or cowl that match. Either way, here are some winter set patterns that you may like.
