Red Heart Fur Topped Holiday Stockings video tutorial from Jessie At Home

Red Heart Fur Top Stocking Video Tutorial

Last year I designed a set of cabled crochet stockings for Red Heart Yarns. You can find the pattern for my Fur Top Holiday Stockings HERE. This year I have a video tutorial to help you make those stockings! The video is nearly an hour long. You can watch the whole thing for help with the entire pattern, or you can just skip to the parts that you need a little extra help with. Either way, you will need the pattern … Read more

Studio Update & Video – It’s so awesome!

I know, I promised you a video of my basement studio once it was done such a long time ago. Well, it’s done-ish. It’s basically as done as it’s going to be for a while, so I thought I better share it with you.

Flower Loom Flowers Video Tutorial

Stitchopedia Flower Loom Flowers tutorial from Jessie At Home

I recently found myself in possession of a Boye Flower Loom. I’d never used one before, but I’ve always been fond of the pretty little flowers they create, so I thought I’d give it a go. You know what? It was really easy and the results were spectacular! I have a few ideas of what to do with some of these lovely flowers already!!

The loom came with instructions on how to use it, but I know some of you are more visual learners, so I thought I would make a video tutorial for you. I actually have 2, one that shows how to make the flower in a single color, without cutting the yarn between the flower and the center, and one that shows how to make the flower in two colors (flower and center). I hope these help you create beautiful flowers for all your upcoming floral needs!!

Nettie’s Super Simple Mitts

Nettie's Super Simple Mitts - free crochet pattern by Jessie At Home

Nettie’s Super Simple Mitts
Crochet Pattern
Easy Skill Level
Designed by Jessie Rayot

Increase your style with these fashionable fingerless mitts. This pattern is slightly different from the rest of the Nettie’s Super Simple Stitch in the round patterns in that it starts with a row of single crochet. The net stitch is then worked off of the single crochet round. This provides a more sturdy base to the mitts so that they stay up. This pattern is also written in a way that it can be made to fit any size, and to finish to any length. Have fun with it!

Stitchopedia Magic Knot Join tutorial from Jessie At Home

Magic Knot

The magic knot is a great join for yarns that are not too slippery. It’s a lot more sturdy then you might think, and it’s pretty simple. Once the magic knot is made, it’s usually simple enough to hide it within your work. However, there are times when it doesn’t work, so try it out first and see what you think. The magic knot does work for a color change, but it’s rather finicky to get exactly where you want it, so I tend to recommend it as a way to add on a new ball of yarn, or fix a knot in your yarn. Most of the time when you find a knot already in a ball of yarn, it is NOT sturdy enough to keep, so you have to cut it out and join the yarn in another manner. This is one option for that.

Stitchopedia - Nettie's Super Simple Stitch in Rows from Jessie At Home

Nettie’s Super Simple Stitch in Rows Video Tutorial

The Nettie’s Super Simple series of patterns all use the same st, sometimes worked in the round, and sometimes worked in rows. This stitch is, as advertised, super simple! It is a stitch pattern that has been used probably since the first hook met hand. This video will show you how to make this stitch pattern in rows, so even a brand new crocheter can create these patterns!! If you are just learning to crochet, and need to know how to make your starting slip knot, a chain stitch, and a slip stitch (which are all the stitches you need), then check out the Learn To Crochet section here.

Wet Felt Join

The wet felt join is a great join for a feltable yarn – such as most animal fibers. It’s best used when joining the same color, as when joining a new skein of the same color, or when there is a knot in your yarn that needs to be removed.
