Nettie’s Super Simple Stitch in the Round Video

The Nettie’s Super Simple series of patterns all use the same st, sometimes worked in the round, and sometimes worked in rows. This stitch is, as advertised, super simple! It is a stitch pattern that has been used probably since the first hook met hand. This video will show you how to make this stitch pattern in the round, so even a brand new crocheter can create these patterns!! If you are just learning to crochet, and need to know how to make your starting slip knot, a chain stitch, and a slip stitch (which are all the stitches you need), then check out the Learn To Crochet section here.

Nettie’s Super Simple Cowl

Nettie's Super Simple Cowl - free crochet pattern by Jessie At Home

Nettie’s Super Simple Cowl
Crochet Pattern
Easy Skill Level
Designed by Jessie Rayot

If you can crochet a chain, you can make Nettie’s Super Simple Cowl!! All you need is one skein of Lion Brand Landscapes Yarn in Tropics, a J (6.00 mm) crochet hook, and yarn needle to weave in the two ends, and one evening; because not only is this cowl super simple, it’s super fast, too! That means it’s not too late to whip up a few for last minute gifts!! Nettie’s Cowl can be worn in several different ways, and adding a shawl pin or clip to it increases the ways it can be worn. I have also included links to video tutorials for the chain stitch and the slip stitch (which is just making a chain st into another st) so even a beginner can make this cowl. Enjoy!!

*** Guess what?! I’ve made a video to help with this stitch pattern. Find it here.

Lilla Rose flexies from Leah Fields - review by Jessie At Home

Leah & Lilla Rose a review & giveaway!

Hello my friends! I have a rebellious review and giveaway for you today!! My friend Leah has an online shop with Lilla Rose. I’ll let them explain what they make:

The Lilla Rose product line centers around unique, functional, and well made hair jewelry. From our flagship Flexi Hair Clip, we have expanded to Hair Sticks, the Flexi Oh!, Hairbands, and Bobby Pins. From there we rounded the line out with complimentarily designed You-Pins, and Badge Clips.

Lilla Rose flexies from Leah Fields - review by Jessie At Home

Well, I took a look at the Flexies (you can see them here), and as much as they looked so wonderful in hair, the rebel in me shouted “Shawl pins, these must be shawl pins!!!” Leah agreed. She also pointed out they would be great “wrapping” around knitting needles or crochet hooks. You could gift someone a nice skein of yarn, some hooks or needles, and a Flexi, all together making a fun scarf or shawl kit with a “pin”.

oh-soot

Oh soot!

Well, it’s been quite a week over here. Last Monday there was a bit of a home improvement snafu. On Thursday I made a video to tell you about it and to show you around my basement as it was at that moment. Please excuse the shaky view of a hammer at the beginning while I ramble on (and the misspelling of shaky on the video, it’s been a long week). So, I will share some of those sooty photos with … Read more

Stitchopedia Knit Decreases K2tog & SSK ~ from Jessie At Home

Decreases: K2tog & ssk

There are so many knit decreases out there! In this Stitchopedia post, I will explain the k2tog (knit two together) and the ssk (slip slip knit), which are the two I see and use most often. Just as with the two kinds of make one increases we discussed a while back, these two decreases lean in opposite directions. I will also show you an alternate way to make the ssk. In this post you will find written instructions, process photos, … Read more

Stitchopedia ~Shortcut Tassels

Stitchopedia ~ Shortcut Tassels from Jessie At Home

Add something extra to your knit or crochet with these tassels. I have a shortcut that allows you to attach the tassel as you make it, and leaves you with no ends to weave into your knit or crochet item. I have written the instructions and I also made a video to show how to make the tassels. For this tutorial, I used Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton. Enjoy!

This video will show you how to make the tassels from start to finish!

Alternate Stitch

The alternate stitch is a very simple stitch that provides texture and visual appeal to your projects. If you can make a single crochet, you can make the alternate stitch. In this post you will find a video to teach the stitch, written instructions, and a written and charted pattern for a practice piece.

Stitchopedia ~ Crochet Alternate Stitch from Jessie At Home

For this tutorial I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn and a US I/9/5.5mm crochet hook.

This video will teach you the alternate stitch
