Vines and Twigs Scarf

The front post cables interspersed with front post stitches resemble vines and twigs running up this scarf. The pattern is a simple 2 row repeat, allowing you plenty of time to perfect your post stitches and crochet cables. The color changes in the Wisdom Yarns Poems Chunky creates the stripes without a lot of ends to weave in. This scarf coordinates with patterns for hats for the whole family: the Vines and Twigs Slouch Hat and the Vines and Twigs Beanie.

The yarn used in this pattern was provided by Universal Yarn.

Getting Started:
Starting with row 2, all rows start with a ch 2 which counts as the first hdc, and end with a hdc.
When adding on a new skein of yarn, it may be necessary to start a bit in (cutting off several yards of yarn) to find a place to match the color variegations of the yarn. Remember to check both ends of the yarn, as they tend to end at different points in the color variegations.

Pattern:
Row 1: Fdc 24
Rows 2: Turn, ch 2 (counts as first hdc here and throughout, (bpdc, 2 fpdc, bpdc, fpc) 3 times, bpdc, 2 fpdc, bpdc, hdc in last st.
Row 3: Turn, ch 2, (fpdc, 2 bpdc) 7 times, fpdc, hdc in last st.

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until scarf is 60” long or desired length, ending with row 3.

Fasten off, weave in all ends.

Wear or give and enjoy!
