Dragon Collar – Twisted and Twirled MCAL #1

The first necklace in the Twisted and Twirled Crochet necklace series is made using the spider stitch. It has 3 1/2 twists in it, which makes each round go completely around the border of the necklace, so all the edges look the same. This fun necklace can be worked up in no time with less than 50 yards of fingering weight yarn.

Rock Star Mitts
Crochet Pattern
Easy Skill Level
Designed by Jessie Rayot

My daughter Kyla named these linen stitch mitts the Rock Star Mitts, “Because, they make me feel like a rock star!” Grab a Frabjous Fibers “Randomness Hat Kit” for enough yarn to make 1 adult set or 2 kids sets of these exciting and easy mitts. They are made in one piece each, with a thumb hole but no added thumb piece, so they are super easy. Come on, be a rock star!!

Woolly Wormhead Round Up

Today’s round up features patterns by Woolly Wormhead. Woolly’s patterns are fabulous and fun! They are very unique and beautiful works of art. I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely lady behind these patterns last month, and she is just as unique and fun as her patterns. When I met her, she gave me a coupon code for 1 free pattern and another for 1 free ebook. I asked her if instead of using them for myself, I could hold a giveaway to give them to 2 of you. She said yes! So make sure to read through this whole post so that you can enter the giveaway!

Woolly has both free and sale patterns, mostly knit, but a few crochet. I have done my best to put together a nice selection for you. You can find out more about Woolly Wormhead and her patterns here.

Radiant Rainbow Blanket for Red Heart Yarns

It’s a Red Heart kind of week! The other day I shared a new pattern with you that I had designed for Red Heart, and today I have another one to share. The Radiant Rainbow Blanket is so fun and bright! It starts out as a giant granny square that changes from red to purple in rainbow order, then it goes from purple back to red with a different stitch pattern for each color to make a fun, textured, border. This pattern is an easy skill level, and works up rather quickly for a blanket. Brighten up someone’s day with this fun blanket!!

Retro Ornament Throw Videos

Just in time for Christmas in July, Red Heart Yarns has released a new pattern that I designed. The Retro Ornament Throw was inspired by those pretty old glass ornaments that are shaped like a sideways eye and often have some sort of decorative circle in the center. This pattern is full of texture and color, and it is sure to become a family heirloom. Weave in those ends well and it will last for generations! I still have blankets from my great grandmother made in Red Heart Super Saver that have been washed so many times, and are still in wonderful shape!

There are many pieces to this pattern. First you make all the ornament motifs, then you join them into strips, and join those strips together as you go. Lastly you add on some tassels. In order to help you out with each part,

Retro Ornament Throw

This festive throw takes a spin into the sixties with a pattern that resembles glass ornaments. The ornaments are joined into strips with the light background setting off the bright colors. Tails from the strips are gathered into tassels.

Spring Cowgirl

Spring Cowgirl is a continuous shawl with a cowl neck top. Maybe that makes it a shawl point cowl? I have no idea what to call this thing! Let’s just call it pretty. It uses 2 generous sample size skeins of yarn (a 50g and a 25g skein), but can be made from one 100g skein of fingering weight yarn, with plenty leftover for a fun small project. (Maybe one or two of the Twisted and Twirled MKAL or MCAL patterns.) The yarn was provided by Mode Knit Yarn and Knitcircus Yarns as part of the swag bags from the Marley Bird Designer Dinner at the Summer 2015 TNNA Needlearts Trade Show. Thank you!!! Both yarns were a pleasure to work with and the colors are just beautiful.

In addition to the patterns and other wonderful content on Moogly, such as video tutorials, giveaways, and product review, Tamara also has 2 Craftsy classes, and patterns published in some online magazines.
