I’ve found a new-to-me needlework craft that I love: beaded embroidery! It’s really a lot of fun and creates a stunning finished project.

I tried out this cute little flower girl embroidery to get started. The background is a nice heavy satin fabric with a clearly printed image. As with any needlepoint, you want to make sure your hands are clean so that you don’t stain the background fabric. The square and other places for the beads are color coded on the satin, and there is also a cross stitch style printed pattern if you are having a hard time differentiating between some of the colors. I found I used both, depending on the colors I was working with.
The instructions are NOT in English, but they are fully illustrated, and I had no problem figuring out what to do.
There are two ways used to attach the beads. The flowers in this kit used one way – sewing on two bead at a time in various directions depending on the picture. The rest of this kit used the other way – sewing on the beads in a diagonal across a gridded space. This way is a lot like cross stitch; you come up in one corner, string a bead, and go back down in the diagonal corner, always making sure to use the same diagonal. It was pretty easy to do.
I found this kit to be very enjoyable and relaxing. It did require a bit of attention to be sure I was using the right colors in the right spaces. I am very happy with the finished picture and am looking forward to having it matted and framed.
You can check out the VDV creations on their website HERE. You can purchase some of the kits from the Etsy store HERE, or the DaWanda store (seems to be a European Etsy) HERE, and from Amazon UK, HERE. So there are plenty of options for those of you in various locations!
