Christmas-Hats

That’s a wrap, check the gate.

September, 1997: my first day on set as the wardrobe intern for CBS’s show Early Edition. Kaye Nottbusch, the costume designer explained “check the gate”: Scenes are shot by location, lights, camera angles; not in chronological order. Once one angle is done, and all the takes needed are finished, you hear the phrase “check the gate.” This refers to checking the camera to make sure no debri got in which could ruin the shot. If anything is found (a hair, a speck … Read more

Holiday Catch Up!

Wow, things have been busy around here. I have some exciting news I should be able to share with you next month(ish). Between that and Christmas, I got a sort of neglected my blogland friends this week.

I still love you!!

I have lots o’ pretty pictures to share with you, so how about I just post them all with a bit about them and leave it at that. It is Christmas Eve and all…

If you hover over the pictures, a short description will pop up, as always! You can also click on the pictures to see them larger.

The Holiday Gift Shop at the girls’ school was at the beginning of the month. It went quite well. Vada had fun playing in my booth while waiting for things to wrap up at the end of the day.

Thanksgiving Weekend 2013

Well hello my friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Time to get ready for more holidays. They just never stop this time of year!! There was some sort of Tricky~Tray at one of Doug’s jobs, and he tossed a ticket in a cup for something for me. Look what he won for me! It’s actually a nice little book. The projects are really cute. The best part is the pictures: Now there is a girl who … Read more

Ugg ~ passwords!!

So I was going to put up a short post with just a few pictures for you this evening. But I did a little laptop cleaning earlier and now I have to re~sign into everything. It seems my Flickr account is attached to an old yahoo account I don’t use anymore, and the backup email they have to send the new password is an old work account I don’t have anymore. Blech!! So I am unable to get into my … Read more

Katherine Hood, take 2

I am determined to finish the Katherine coat and pattern this week and start testing it! It has been in the same state as it was when I wore it to the Knit and Crochet show for over a month!

Katherine-back

The hood was a bit too long. It was very fun, but it just wouldn’t stay on, so I frogged it. See, here is the hood:

Half(ish) way done with Katherine!

I know I have been a bit quite this week. It has been quite busy about here. On Wednesday and Thursday I worked at the school book fair, and on Wednesday evening Doug and I went to Back to School Night at the girls’ school. I was able to get a little bit of crochet done at the book fair; mostly during the lunch period. I have been spending the vast majority of my time getting ready for the knit … Read more

Stand back…

My head is going to explode, you may want to take a step back…

I have so much going on right now I can’t seem to keep it all straight, and I feel like my head may go kaplooy at any moment. Kaplooy? How do you spell ka-ploo-ie?

I have the top of the Katherine coat done, and am about 1/4 of the way done with the top part of the skirt. So I still need to do the rest of the top part of the skirt, the bottom of the skirt, the hood, the pockets, and the belt. I leave for the knit and crochet show two weeks from today. Oh dear.

Let’s not even get into the rest of the things I need to do before then.

On my needles, on my hook, and on my mind…

I know, I need to finish the Katherine coat for the Knit and Crochet show. I just can’t work on only one thing. Plus, then there would be no free patterns here until mid to late October. Not to mention, sometimes I just need to step away from Katherine for a while. We have a very complex relationship, that coat and I. It seems there was something in the air this spring, I have quite a few pregnant friends. They … Read more
