Sometimes you just need a cute witch hat! I created this adorable pink and orange little hat for my good little witch, Kyla. Made with Red Heart Reflective yarn, it is fun to watch it shine in the light! *Please note that this yarn is not made to be used for safety equipment.

Good Little Witch Hat ~ Child Size
Free Crochet Pattern
Easy Skill Level
Designed by Jessie Rayot

Size:
Toddler (Child small/medium, Child medium/large) 16” (18”, 20”)

Yarn:
RED HEART® Reflective Neon Pink: 130 (140, 150) g
RED HEART® Reflective Neon Orange: 30 g (all sizes)

Hook:
US 8/H/5.00 mm

Gauge:
14 sts by 7 rows in dc in a 4″ square

Stitches and Skills used:
ch ~ chain
sc ~ single crochet
hdc ~ half double crochet
dc ~ double crochet
st(s) ~ stitch(es)

Getting Started:
This pattern uses a hook that is much smaller than would normally be used for this yarn. This is done to create a stiffer fabric so that the hat stands up on its own and the brim is not too floppy.

Optional: If you would like the brim to be even stiffer, you can add in brimlock around the hat, making the last round of the brim over top of the brimlock. You can order brimlock here and joiners here.

  2. There’s definitely a mistake in round 1 of the Hat Brim made up in Medium size.
    The maths don’t work out.
Did you mean to put 5 sc not 9? Even then, it leaves you at 70 not 72 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Otherwise lovely pattern.

    • You are so right! I just re-wrote Round 1 of the Hat Brim and triple checked that the math works for all 3 sizes. Thank you so much for pointing that out. I hope the hat brings lots of spooky fun!
