Kitchen Fixes

This will be mostly photos tonight. It is after 1am (hey, happy 8th anniversary to Doug & me!) I just want to show you what I have been up to lately.

First, here are some snaps from a trip to Target we made the other day. The girls were having fun as you can see. *as always, if you hover your mouse over the photos, a little description will come up*

When we got home, there were things to unload into the garage (we had picked up some shelving that I had found on Freecycle.) Later I noticed that Thor looked like he was staring in a Chevy commercial, with the way he was parked.

The last two days have been spent working in the kitchen. You see, I have this wall in my kitchen that I have wanted to turn into my little coffee/tea/cookbook center since we bought the house a year ago.  Not only that, but I have been wanting to take the doors off the cabinets, and remove the shelves and drawers, and clean the heck out of them. The kitchen is very 70s, and though we can not afford to redo the kitchen at this time, I can at least remove the layers of crud on everything. It is just so gross. I don’t think the previous owner liked to clean very much. The oven vent doesn’t really work, so all the grease from years of cooking just settled on the cabinets. I have cleaned them many times, but they just never got clean enough. So it was time for drastic measures. Besides, I really needed to reorganize in there and trash/donate/recycle some of my extra stuff. Anyway, here are some process photos of the last 2 days. Take a look at that great 80’s wallpaper in the second snap!

Well, I am off to shower and bed. I told Doug all I want for our anniversary is my kitchen clean and pretty. I think we are taking the girls to a movie (we have some gift cards from Christmas) and then maybe splurging on a dinner out! Hopefully there will still be time to work on the kitchen. The girls’ birthday party is Saturday, and we are having it here, so we will need to have the house presentable by then!

*oh, almost forgot; the coffee/tea/cookbook center cost us about $30, I’ll tell you how we made that happen in a future post.

  1. I have SO much work to do on my house too… its still not decorated at all… we keep saying we are going to paint it first. We bought the paint over a month ago, lol… it’s just sitting in the garage.

good luck with your new nook!
