The Dragon Tooth Wrap is part of the Dragon Wing pattern series. It uses my knit version of the Jacob’s Ladder stitch to make a stylish wrap. The piece is knit until just a few rows are left, and then six sections of stitches are dropped and re-knit in chunks. This creates a great texture and added interest. There are so many ways to wear the Dragon Tooth Wrap, and it’s a great way to show off your favorite shawl pin.

The yarn for this design was provided by Round Mountain Fibers. All opinions are my own.

Jacob’s Ladders

  • Pull first set of 3 dropped stitches (at edge of Color B) so they drop through the cast on.
  • With knit side facing, pick up the 4 bottom strands of dropped yarn.
  • Twist the strands a half turn so they make a loop.
  • Pick up next 4 strands (do not twist) and pull them through the loop made from the previous set.
  • Repeat previous step until there are no more strands.
  • If the dropped yarn ends with 3, 4, or 5 strands, make them all the last loop, if it ends with 6 strands, make the last 2 loops both with 3 strands.
  • Place last loop on a locking stitch marker or safety pin to hold them.

  • Pull next set of 3 dropped sts so they drop to the point where they were added in.
  • With knit side facing, insert a crochet hook from front to back 2 sts below where the dropped sts stopped.
  • Catch the bottom 4 dropped sts in the hook and pull them through to the front (do not twist).

Repeat previous set of instructions with remaining dropped sts.

Finishing

Row 1: [K to marker, rm, slip looped sts on to right needle, pm] 6 times, k2. {130 sts counted each set of looped sts as 1}
Row 2: [K to marker, k in loop (count a strands in loop as 1 st)] 6 times, k2.
Bind off all sts knit wise.

Fasten off then weave in all ends. Wet block piece.
