Post stitches can add so much texture and interest to your crochet. They can be used to make cables, ribbing, and other features. When paired with color changes post stitches can make colors appear to be changing rows. This evening I’ve collected 7 free crochet patterns that feature post stitches for you to try.

Here are the names and links of each pattern.

1) Strand of Diamonds Washcloth by Jessie At Home
“The diamond shaped post stitches on this washcloth give it great texture and visual appeal. Pamper yourself with this 100% cotton washcloth in a generous size.”

2) Textured Twist Cabled Beanie & Slouch by A Crocheted Simplicity
“Just recently I designed the Textured Twist 12″ Afghan Square. During the design process, several other coordinating pieces began running through my head, the Textured Twist Cabled Beanie & Slouch is one of them.”

3) Chic Cable Slippers by My Hobby is Crochet
“Spoil your feet with these comfy, super soft cable crochet slippers!”

4) Basketweave Messy Bun Hat by The Purple Poncho
“Whether you’re hiking on trails through the Grand Canyon or shopping at the grocery store, this Basketweave Messy Bun Hat will keep you warm and in style no matter where you are.”

5) Ahuic Headwrap by Crystalized Design
“Quick to work up, with a simple repeat pattern and super bulky or bulky yarn, you’ll have a new headwrap in no time! This wrap is perfect for yourself, friends and family, as well as craft fairs!”

6) Mandala Galaxy Square by The Lavender Chair
This pattern uses post stitches to play with color in a really cool way.

7) Staghorn Slouch (with Messy Bun Version) by Moogly
“The Staghorn Slouch features two cable motifs, worked from the brim up – for your very own set of very chic antlers! With both pom and messy bun versions to choose from, it might just be your favorite hat this season!”
