Red Heart Magical Yarn - review from Jessie At HomePin

I first discovered Red Heart Boutique Magical yarn at my first knit and crochet show in October of 2013. I was so in love that I bought 3 skeins of it then and there!

“Why?” you ask. Well, it’s name fits: it’s magical! I’ll let Red Heart explain what I mean

[pullquote width=”700″ float=”left”]Magical is four yarns in one! Shiny, brushed, metallic and multicolored fibers come together to make one gorgeous yarn. Beautiful, striped patterns form as you knit or crochet, making it ideal for trendy accessories or garments.[/pullquote]

Up until recently, I had only crocheted with it, but as you will see in today’s free pattern, it knits wonderfully as well! I used larger then suggested needles to create a fabric with lovely drape that has all sorts of textures! The unevenness of the yarn thickness brings in even more texture and interest.

Due to all the changes from one yarn to another, Magical is the perfect candidate for the magic knot join when you need to add on a new skein. My Magical Hooded Poncho used 3 skeins, and I used the magic knot join so in the end I only had 2 ends to weave in, it was glorious!

With the current boho movement happening, Magical fits right in. Try a simple one skein scarf with fringe for holiday gifts!

Knit: leave a long tail, cast on to desired length, cut yarn leaving a long tail. Then knit each row back and forth, but cut your yarn at the end of each row leaving long tails on both ends. Bind off when you have just enough left for the bind off and tie the fringes together in sections of 2 or more to hold everything in place.

Crochet: leave a long tail, chain to desired length, cut yarn leaving a long tail. Then single crochet each row back and forth, but cut your yarn at the end of each row leaving long tails on both ends. When you don’t have enough yarn to make another row, you’re done. Tie the fringes together in sections of 2 or more.

I hope you all love Red Heart Boutique Magical as much as I do!
