My daughter Kyla named these linen stitch mitts the Rock Star Mitts, “Because, they make me feel like a rock star!” Grab a Frabjous Fibers “Randomness Hat Kit” for enough yarn to make 1 adult set or 2 kids sets of these exciting and easy mitts. They are made in one piece each, with a thumb hole but no added thumb piece, so they are super easy. Come on, be a rock star!!
This star crochet pattern can be used as a trivet or a centerpiece. If your gauge is the same as mine, I have marked where to stop the pattern for the trivet, or you can go all the way to the end to make the centerpiece. However, you do not have to match my gauge for this pattern to work! It will just be a different size. Please remember to stay safe: don’t use meltable yarn for a trivet, and this pattern is not intended to be used as a potholder.

I love the look of the blue triangle and diagonal red and white stripes to represent the flag. It works so well for a placemat, and there is no worry of being disrespectful to the flag this way. I made a similar knit pattern a while back, and had quite a few requests for a crochet version. I had to find just the right stitch for it, and the linen stitch fit the bill.
