Secret and not~so~secret crochet!

So I have finally been feeling alive enough to get back to crocheting today! Here is a pile of yarn I have next to me attached to a few secret projects. I know, I’m such a stinker showing you the yarn and not the project, but sometimes you just have to wait! Here is the start of something I hope to have ready to share with you by the end of the weekend. I LOVE making a linen stitch with … Read more

Still an enigma

That’s right, I’m still an enigma. A little while ago I told you about how I am a medical enigma right now. At that point, I was drinking barium and waiting to go to my CT scan. Eventually the time came, and off I went to my appointment. Due to the time sensitive nature of when you drink the barium versus when the CT happens, these appointments tend to be on time. So I got there my requisite 15 minutes … Read more

Enigma

Yep, that’s me, I’m an enigma. A medical enigma. I woke up on Monday morning with a little bit of pain. But I went about my Monday as I usually do, I went to the market, unloaded the groceries, and then to work. But the pain didn’t go away. It got worse. And nothing I could do made it any better. Now thankfully I had already edited the post with the pattern I wanted to share with you. So I … Read more

Joseph’s Puff Stitch Blanket

Here is a fun puff stitch pattern I designed for a baby blanket for a friend of mine. I have used modern baby boy colors in Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn, but you can use whatever colors make you happy! By working the puff stitches around the posts of the row below, they create little polka dots that drop down into the previous color. The texture of the little dots are fun for little fingers as well!

How I learnt to crochet.

It’s National Crochet Month, so I thought this would be a good story to share with you. Just after I finished second grade we moved to Ohio, where most of my father’s family lived. One of those family members was Grandma Clark, my father’s mother’s mother. We would go to Grandma Clark’s apartment for Sunday dinner. I don’t remember if it was every Sunday, every other Sunday, the first Sunday of the month…I just know it was at least once … Read more

Simple Hair Tie Back with Button

This simple hair tie back matches wonderfully with the puff stitch necklace. It works up quickly using chain sts, puff sts, and a few single crochets. This tie back looks stunning in variegated yarn, but it would also be lovely changing colors every round with 2 or more solid colors, or even just in one color. The tie back is closed with a button, and is adjustable. There are two fun little chains that end in puff stitches that hang down below the button. These chains can easily be made longer for a more dramatic look.

Puff Stitch Necklace in 3 Lengths

This simple and elegant necklace works up quickly using chain sts, puff sts, and a few slip sts. It is reminiscent of a layered chain and bead necklace, but much lighter to wear. With 3 different lengths to choose from, you can pick the one that looks best on you! This pattern is written out with photos to help along the way, and a video to aid the more visual learners. This necklace looks stunning in variegated yarn, but it would also be lovely changing colors every round with 2 or more solid colors, or even just in one color.
