Frenzied Friday & Spectacular Saturday

Yup, an interesting couple of days over here. Friday morning, after dropping off the girls at school I made a run to the local Girl Scout council. I had to pick up all the Daisy uniforms. The girls are going to be so cute, but boy were those boxes heavy!

A look back

The past few days have been quite the roller coaster ride. Moving the blog (even if I am not the one doing most of the work) is quite stressful. I want it to be easy and useful for all of you, and happy~making for me. I am at the point now where I can see that happening.

I did it again

Once again I have teamed up with the amazing Craft Hope! The new web page is still under construction, but the Facebook page is running smoothly. So hop on over to the Craft Hope Facebook page and give them a “like.” Then check out Project 19 :: Dolls, Animals, and Monsters. Oh My! Share it with anyone you know who may be able to make handmade softies for kids who lost so much from Sandy. There are two people collecting for this project, the lovely Katrina up in NH, and yours truly.

Spooky house and other cute moments

The other day the girls and I spent $3.00 at the grocery store on a pack of Halloween cut outs. We then put them in the front windows and on the front door.

Now every time we come home Vada says “Hi, Spooky House.” It’s kinda adorable!

A Thousand Words

We all know the saying. Well this is my thousand word picture.

Housework and home repair. That is what my life is right now.

Anyway, here are some snaps of the girls that have piled up over the last month or two.

Sub~Floor? What Sub~Floor?

So I have looked up when in the basement before. I actually spent quite some time looking at the joists with the inspector. Yet for some reason, I never really looked at the ceiling/floor above the joists. Maybe then I would have realized why someone put other imitation wood floors all over the first floor on top of the real wood.

See that ceiling; does it look familiar? Here’s the dining room floor again (the one on the left.)

Back in time

The past two weekends were the annual Sands point Medieval Festival, where Doug and I always help out. We brought the girls for the first weekend, but not the second.

As always, Doug fought bravely. I think he was a good guy this year… (he’s the one standing)

I helped out in the A&S booth, demoing various fiber arts, and enjoying the lovely days outside. The first weekend all four of us spent the night in the girls’ little 10×10 pavilion. It was a tight fit, but so nice in the morning to wake up with the girls.

Here we have Kyla inspecting the camp on Sunday morning.

You mean I have to start watching a soap?!?!

Many moons ago I was sitting in my first day of Make Up class at The Theater School at DePaul University, and met the boy sitting next to me, Mike. I was a first year costume designer and he was a second year actor. He didn’t seem to fit in so much with his classmates, I could relate. Of course, he was also gorgeous, so that helped, too!

As the year went on, we became friends. I was rather skilled at make up, so he tended to turn to me when he needed some help. I also worked in the costume storage rooms for my work study job. Occationally he would stop in when I was working and plop on down on a trunk to talk. He used to just open up about everything to me. He would tell me that he knew that he would always work after graduation, because of his looks, but that he didn’t know he had the talent to make him deserve that work. I knew he had the talent. I could look at Mike a see a good man with talent, but also

What a month!

Much craziness since we last talked. Let’s see here, how about a basic run down?

Gift-for-Pennsic-friends

First, Doug went off to Pennsic XL (that’s 40, not extra large). It was quite surreal to know that he was there, while I wasn’t; even more so each evening when he would call. However, considering everything we had planned with my Mother’s side of the family in the upcoming week, there was no sane or financially intelligent way for the rest of us to join him.
