Hanging bag holders are a great way to help the planet and stay organized. When you end up with plastic bags, keep them in your holder and reuse them when you can. It seems like no matter how much I try to avoid using plastic bags, they always sneak into my house, so this hanging bag holder is quite handy.

Hanging Bag Holder Pattern:

Hanging Bag Holder Base

Rnd 1: Ch 55, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch, sl st to top of first sc. – {54 sts}
Rnd 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), [sc in next st, ch 1, skip 1] around, sl st to top of beginning sc. – {27 sts}
Rnd 3: Ch 1, [sc in next sc, ch 1] around, sl st to top of beginning sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each sc and ch-1 sp around, sl st to top of beginning sc. – {54 sts}

Hanging Bag Holder Body

Rnd 1: [Ch 3, skip 3, sc in next st] until 2 sts remain.
Continuous Rnds: [Ch 3, sc around next ch-3 sp] until there are approximately 25 Rnds of mesh or to desired height.

Hanging Bag Holder Top

Rnd 1: Sc around same ch-3 sp as last sc of Continuous Rnds, 3 sc around ch-3 sp to end of Rnd, sl st to top of last sc of Continuous Rnds. – {41 sts}
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, sl st to top of beginning sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each of next 35 sts, ch 15, sl st to top of beginning sc. – {35 sc}
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each sc and ch around, sl st to top of beginning sc. – {50 sc}
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, sl st to top of beginning sc.
Fasten off then weave in all ends.

Hanging Bag Holder Finishing

To make tie string, ch 200 and fasten off.
Weave one end of tie string through Rnd 2 of base and other end through Rnd 3, starting at the first ch-1 sp of each Rnd and ending at the last.
Tie the two ends of the tie string together.
This will leave 2 parts of the tie string to tie together, one will be the fold at the center of the tie string, and the other will be the 2 ends tied together.
Tie the tie string to tighten bottom of bag holder so that the plastic bags stay inside.
