Leo the Lovey is my way to honor one of my favorite childhood books: Leo the Lop. This lop will bring love to any child!

I wanted to make a corner lovey, and decided to go with a bunny. As I was making the ears, I thought of Leo the Lop and just knew I had to make the bunny lop-eared and name it Leo the Lovey. The blanket features a center of reversible Jacob’s Ladder stitch, with a border of linen stitch.

Loop the Ladders

• Twist the tops ch-7 from a column of ch-7s to form a loop, *skip one ch-7 and pull the next ch-7 through the loop, creating a new loop (do not twist), repeat from * until every other ch-7 has been pulled through
• Repeat with each set of ch-7s.
• Flip blanket over and loop remaining ch-7s.

Blanket Border

While working Rnd 1, catch top loops of the front Jacob’s ladder in the sts above them.
While working Rnd 2, catch top loops of the back Jacob’s ladder in the sts above them.

Rnd 2: Pm on loop on hook, 2 sc in next st (were marker from previous rnd was), 2 sc in each st around. {10 sts}
Rnd 3: Pm on loop on hook, [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] 5 times. {15 sc}
Rnd 4: Pm on loop on hook, [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts] 5 times. {20 sc}
Rnds 5-7: Pm on loop on hook, sc in each st around.
Rnd 8: Pm on loop on hook, [sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts] 5 times. {15 sc}
Rnd 9: Pm on loop on hook, [sc2tog, sc in next st] 5 times. {10 sc}
Rnds 10-30: Pm on loop on hook, sc in each st around.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Finishing

With Color A, sew along edge of Border from the first st of Rnd 1, up through to the top corner, then from the opposite top corner down through the last st of Rnd 1. Pull tight, then sew the gather flat against Row 1 of Blanket.

Sew both ears and both arms to lovey as pictured.
