Skittles Paintings with Kyla and Vada – Fun craft for the days off school!

After seeing some Skittles paintings on the internet, Vada wanted to give it a go in a more creative way then just painting with the Skittles colored water. All the tutorials we found had the Skittles in a bowl of water, and then you used the colored water as paint, but we wanted to try actually using the Skittles on the paper.

Pretty Painted Pages with Plaid Paints – Perfect Presents for Precious People

I’ve been trying to decide what to do with several pretty colors of Plaid watercolor paints, and I finally figured it out! I saw these nifty flower paintings made with books and string and just had to give it a go. I tried it out and it was so much fun! I think the girls and I will be making more of these to use in out present wrapping.

Origami Helmet – make it any any size from Mouse to Bear!

The Origami Helmet is such a fun piece to make. I remember making them out of big squares of newspaper to make a hat for myself when I was little. You can start with different size papers to make different size hats for anyone – or even for all your toys. This is a great way for a little one to start learning origami.

The origami helmet can be made with paper that is a different color on both sides for a decorative effect. Be sure to crease well after each fold.

Origami Blintz Base – written and pictorial tutorial

The Origami Blintz Base is the start of various Origami Patterns including the Butterfly, Basic Box, and Fortune Teller. You will find the written and pictorial pattern for the Origami Blintz Base below.

Origami has been one of my hobbies since I was 8 years old. Many Origami Patterns start with an Origami Base: a folded form that starts a piece. This is one such base. You can find more Origami Base Tutorials for here: https://jessieathome.com/category/crafts/origami/origami-base/

Origami Swan – Quick and Easy

The origami swan is not only graceful and beautiful, but it is also quick and easy to make. This is a great piece for someone just learning origami. It can be made from paper that is the same color on both sides, but if the paper is different colors on each side then there is a little bit of the contrasting color showing for some added interest.

To begin the origami swan, fold a square piece of paper in half diagonally with the color that you want to be the main color on the outside. Unfold.

Origami Ninja Star – I remember these from school!

Get your ninja on, with origami ninja stars. Does anyone else remember these origami ninja stars from school? I remember some the kids used to fold these up and toss them around. OK, not exactly following school rules, but I remember it happening. These are also great for costumes and party decorations. To make an origami ninja star you will need 2 squares of paper. Only one side of each piece will be seen, so the color of the second side does not matter.

For the purposes of this tutorial, we are going to call the blue square of paper Paper A, and the orange square of paper Paper B. To begin, fold both pieces of paper in half and then unfold.
