Start the last round of the square and work until you get to the first corner that needs to be joined. Make the first ch of the corner as normal, to make the second ch, first insert the hook from front to back into the corner ch that is being connected to, then make the chain by yarning over, and pulling through everything on the needle.
Now complete the next 3 dc. Connect the next ch stitch, by first inserting the hook from front to back in the chain space that is being joined into, then make the chain in the same manner as before. Continue joining side in this manner until next corner is reached. Join first ch of next corner to finish off.
When joining squares, if the first side of the round is joined, the last chain of the starting ch-5 is joined to the first corner/space the square is being joined to.

Fasten off and then weave in all ends.
Border
Rnd 1: With RS facing, join Color G to top of dc4tog from Row 38 to begin working down long side, [4 sc around side of same st, 3 sc around sides of each of next 10 sts, 4 sc around side of next st, 3 sc around sides of each of next 9 sts, 4 sc around side of next st, 3 sc around sides of each of next 10 sts, 4 sc around side of next st, ch 2, 3 sc around sides of each of next 5 sts forming short side, ch 2] 2 times, sl st in beginning sc. {15 sc on short sides, 103 sc on long sides}
Fasten off and then weave in all ends.
Block to 3″ x 19.5″.
Outer Border
Join short side to top of Motif 27 and long side to left of Inner Border while making Rnd 2. Skip the ch-2 corner at the top left of Motif 27 and the next 7 ch-1 sps, begin joining in the next ch-1 sp.
Rnd 1: Join Color A to a ch-2 corner sp, (st2sc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 corner sp, *[ch 1, skip 3, 3 dc in next st] across to 3 sts before next ch-2 corner sp, ch 1, skip 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 corner sp; repeat from * 2 more times, [ch 1, skip 3, 3 dc in next st] across to 3 sts before first ch-2 corner sp, ch 1, skip 3, 2 dc in first ch-2 corner sp as beginning st2sc, sl st in top of beginning st2sc. {5 sets of 3 dc on short sides, 27 sets of 3 dc on long sides}
Rnd 2: Sl st into ch-2 corner sp, (st2sc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 corner sp, *[ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp] across to next ch-2 corner sp, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 corner sp; repeat from * 2 more times, [ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp] across to first ch-2 corner sp, ch 1, 2 dc in first ch-2 corner sp, sl st in top of beginning st2sc. {6 sets of 3 dc on short sides, 28 sets of 3 dc on long sides}
Fasten off and then weave in all ends.
