Stitchopedia Video & Photo Tutorial

The single cast on is a great first cast on to learn. It’s easy to do and will get you knitting fast. This is my favorite learn-to-knit cast on. Be sure to keep the stitches close together so there are no loops hanging between the stitches. The single cast on was the only cast on I knew for many years and it appeared on many-a-gifts.

Keep going until you have as many stitches as you need. Be sure to tighten each loop so there is not a space between the stitches. Don’t pull them super tight or the first row will be hard to knit, just tight enough so there isn’t a space between the stitches.
