A few weeks ago I finally joined the crowd over at Pinterest. It seemed like a good way to keep track of all the cool house ideas I have been running across on the internet.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Yup, today is my birthday. It was a rather nice one.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

I got my first present in the mail yesterday, from my childhood best friend.

Excuse me, I’m off to see the wizard.

When I was younger *did I just say that?* I used to have this button. It had a psychedelic background and said “Excuse me, I’m off to see the wizard.” I used to wear it on days when I felt a like my mind and my body were in two different worlds.

If I had that button now, I’d have been wearing it for the past month.

This whole house~buying~thing has me a little off~kilter, even for me. So I’ve decided to just ignore the crazy and live life anyway. For years I’ve been saying “when we have a house, I’ll start…” or, “I’ll be better about … when we have a house.” I’ve blamed this dinky little apartment for more then it’s share of…stuff.

Now there are some things

New patterns!!!

Finally! New pattern day is here. Here is a bit about each pattern with a “buy now” link for those of you who can’t wait to get started. I will let you know the full price, but if you buy any of the patterns from the links here you will get a 15% discount through Wednesday, April 11th at 6pm Eastern time. After that the links will charge you full price. These links, and going directly to my Ravelry store, will give you immediate access to the pattern PDF to download. You may also go to my Etsy store, where everything is listed at full  price, but you can type in the coupon code “bloom” to receive 15% off your entire purchase, not just the new patterns. Just be aware when you buy a pattern from Etsy, you will have to wait until I receive the notification email of your order at which time I will send you an email with the pattern PDF as an attachment.

ETA: The sale is over at this point, though there are others on occasion  These patterns can also be found in my Craftsy Store.

So without further ado; here are the new patterns!

More Faerie Frocks!

I like to end all my patterns with a few line drawings to help the user plan their colors.

The first one for Kat (Faerie Frock) is a cute little drawing of the garment being worn. The second is more of a drafting kind of take, which will really help with color planning.

I love my dragon!

So I’ve been wanting a dragon for a year. I asked for one for Christmas last year, but they’re kind of expensive.  I know you’re thinking, ” where do you buy a dragon?” It’s not that kind of a dragon. I’m talking about the talk to type computer program.  You know, the one they advertise on TV around this time of year.  Well, I found one really cheap on O.co, so I bought it for myself.

We’re both still figuring each other out, so for the time being, it’s not that much quicker than typing;  however, I’m sure as we get to know each other, it will get faster.  It’s still tons of fun though!

Anyway, this past Sunday was the Yarrrn Club meeting at InsaniTea.  I brought along lots of sock monkeys who needed eyes and mouths. As soon as they were able to see, they fell in love with the giant InsaniTea sock monkey, and had to go sit with him. They were very sad to leave, but they are looking forward to their new homes in Texas.

On Monday morning the girls saw the new additions to our sock monkey family and had to start the quality control. Vada just had to see how many she could hug at once.

Faerie Wings Tutorial

Faerie Wings free crochet tutorial by Jessie At Home

All righty friends, this is just a loose tutorial, not really a pattern. You kind of have to “wing it” ~ hee hee!

You will need:
2 wire coat hangers of equal size and shape
masking tape
5 yards plastic boning (some stores only sell this covered in white or black fabric)
about a foot of craft wire, 20 gauge or thicker
Sample was made with Bernat Softee Baby yarn in Garden Ombre
