Stitchopedia Tutorial
The Up & Down Stitch is an easy to crochet, fun jogging block pattern that looks great with colors changing every row.
Yarn used in this tutorial was provided by WeCrochet. All opinions are my own.
For this tutorial I’ve changed color every row. When I used this stitch in Section 9 of the Suzie’s Stiped Sampler Blanket CAL, I used three colors and changed them every row. While the blocks will show more with at least two colors and changing colors every row, you can certainly play around and see what other color patterns you can create.

Up & Down Stitch Written Instructions with Photos
The Up & Down Stitch is worked over a multiple of 6 plus 2 stitches. For the video and chart in this tutorial I started with a base of 26 single crochet. The stitch pattern begins with row 2. I’ve also included a finishing row to end your swatch with a row of single crochet. The first and last rows of single crochet are simply to neaten up the top and bottom of your swatch if you want to keep it for future reference. I like to staple mine to an index card with the name of the pattern on it.
