Overlay Crochet took the crochet world by storm a few years ago and it’s popularity has stayed. It’s a stunning textured crochet technique that works in solid colors or multiple colors. Now with Leisure Art’s Overlay Crochet book you can create 10 amazing projects and build your crochet skills.
The book reviewed in this post was provided by Leisure Arts. All opinions are my own.
Overlay Crochet includes 10 home decor projects that will bring style to your home. You can use these creations to add a pop of color, or you can accent just one color. Maybe you want to bring out a few colors from a favorite art piece in a room, or make various items in the colors of each season. It’s all up to you!
You can jump right into these fun projects, because Overlay Crochet starts out with the patterns. Each pattern lists all the materials needed and stitches used. There are also stitch instructions for the less well-known stitches, which is always helpful.
In addition to the 10 patterns, you’ll find several pages of General Instructions at the end of Overlay Crochet. Even if you’re an experienced crocheter, it’s a good idea to at least give a look to these pages to be sure you are doing things in the manner this book suggests. Some pattern traits are pretty standard, while others can vary from designer to designer, so it’s good to be sure you know what everything means.
If you’re not as experience, or just new to some of the stitches and techniques used in Overlay Crochet, don’t fret because the General Instructions section includes clearly written instructions and easy to understand illustrations. I usually check out this section of any crochet or knit book before I decide if I want it.
Overlay Crochet is a great way to get started with this beautiful technique, or to expand on the skills you already have. Maybe you can do this technique with no problem, but you’re not a designer so you need patterns. This book will give you 10 projects that would not only work for your home, but would make great gifts.

I am in early stages of learning this, so far I love how it makes designs look. Will love following and learning more about this.
